“I’m serious though. Go shower and change. We have plans tonight.”
“Yeah, I do. Dinner’s waiting in the crockpot and my show comes on tonight, you know that.”
“Would you listen to yourself? You sound like a pathetic old man. We’re still in our twenties, the prime of our lives. Be young and crazy for once.”
I sighed. “Fine. I’ll have dinner with you. Let’s go.”
“Shower first. You stink like the barn.”
“The barn doesn’t stink.” Fresh hay combined with the natural scents of the animals was my favorite smell in the world. “And since when do you care?”
“We’re going out, I told you. It’s Boy’s Night at the Tavern.”
“Who’s coming?”
“Everyone.”
“But I thought the Colliers were having dinner.”
“Just the ladies and kids. Bran, Gage, and the Smith boys are tagging along too. I was gonna see if Cruz and Luke are still around and want to join us.”
“Sweet. I was just thinking how much I miss us all hanging out. I’ll be quick.”
My mood perked up instantly. I didn’t even mind that we’d have extras if it meant getting the Six Pack back together.
I always kept a couple changes of clothes at the barn because you just never knew what the day would bring.
By the time I showered and was ready to go, Bran had come down to join us and Austin had rounded up Cruz.
“Where’s Luke?”
“He’s meeting us there,” Cruz explained.
“Great, let’s go.”
Austin smirked. “Thought dinner and your show were waiting.”
“Shit. I need to swing by the house and turn it off. I’ll meet you over there.”
“Swear it,” Austin demanded.
“Yeah, I swear. This will be great.”
Despite his exaggeration, I rarely ever turned down time with my boys and I certainly wasn’t going to miss an opportunity for all of us to spend the evening together.
I swung by my house and turned off the crockpot and then checked to make sure my show would record before heading over to the Tavern.
I was the last to arrive.
I walked in with a smile on my face, seeing all the guys I was proud to call my brothers together again.
Thomas greeted me first with a big hug.
“I feel like it’s been too long since we all got together like this.”
“I agree. Too damn long.”
“Whatcha drinking tonight, Clay?” Milly asked.
