There was a soft nurturing side to Clay that rivaled the hard lines, defined muscles, and growly aggression.

“I can’t. I literally don’t own a T-shirt.”

He linked his fingers with mine and led me back to the bedroom.

For a second I thought he was going to throw me on the bed and ravish me, or maybe that was just me wishing he would do that. Instead, he opened his drawer and pulled out a plain gray T-shirt and handed it to me.

“Seriously?”

He ran a hand through his hair and nodded.

I huffed and then pulled off my shirt right in front of him. I heard his sharp intake of breath as he watched me. I didn’t give him more than a peek though before I covered myself in his oversized shirt.

“I look ridiculous.”

“It’ll do for now. We’ll stop in town and pick up some more clothes your size later.”

I rolled my eyes. “This is insane.”

He softened. “No one ever claimed there was anything sane about a mating male.”

Chapter 9

Seeing Winnie standing there in just her bra, jeans, and cowgirl boots was a vision I would set aside for my spank bank later. Holy hell that girl was hotter than sin.

Mine!my wolf reminded me.

I couldn’t wait to make her officially mine. As it was, my wolf was edgy knowing she’d almost run away from me. What if Lily hadn’t been there? I didn’t know what I would do if she actually chose to leave. I hated to admit it, but a deep-rooted part of me desperately needed this woman.

My ego was bruised enough from her just considering leaving. I knew I needed her to be certain before I could fully claim her as mine.

The fact that I even considered marking her as a possibility should have scared the shit out of me. I wasn’t spontaneous. I was cautious, a careful planner. But when it came to Winnie, I found myself reacting more than thinking clearly.

This was the one thing in my life I couldn’t afford to screw up though.

We were both quiet as we drove over to Kate’s Diner. I usually just had a bowl of oatmeal at the house, but I thought Winnie needed to see some of our territory and maybe meet some of my friends. I just hoped she didn’t run before she discovered just how awesome Collier Pack really was.

If I had my choice of Packs throughout the world, I’d choose Collier every single time.

I parked the car and jumped out to run around and open her door. I tried not to let my frustration show when she got out, beating me to it.

Instead, I linked my hand with hers and escorted her inside.

I nodded to Wyatt who was behind the counter and took a seat in the first available booth.

“It said wait to be seated,” she whispered to me.

I shrugged. “It’s fine.”

The guys didn’t even give us a full minute to get settled before they descended.

Austin slid in next to Winnie and put his arm around her. I growled loudly in warning. He seemed completely unfazed even though the others were all shooting me questioning looks.

“Hi, I’m Austin.”

“Get lost,” she told him, causing Emmett to roar in laughter.
