How dare he touch my mate.

“Shit!” Brady yelled as he stumbled backwards.

I was vaguely aware of how Winnie swayed, but my focus was all on Brady.

My head lowered to the ground with a snarl. My tail tucked between my legs and the fur on my back stood up.

“Jesus, Clay, she’s fine. She’s just drunk. Don’t attack me for it. I’m just the driver to ensure she got back to you safely.”

I heard his words, but they were little more than a whisper through the roar in my ears.

He screamed and ran back to his car as I stalked him.

“I didn’t mean to touch her. She’s drunk and I didn’t want her to fall.”

He scrambled to get back in his car then flipped me the bird as he kicked up dust in my driveway and got the hell out of there.

Winnie laughed, regaining my attention.

I turned just in time to see her topple over and fall to the ground.

My heart raced as I went to her, shifting back to my skin to check on her.

“Are you okay?”

She giggled and then hiccupped.

“Am I okay? Are you okay?” she said with a definite slur to her words.

“I’m fine. Come on, let’s get you inside.”

“And then you’ll mark me as yours?”

“What? Winnie, we can discuss that later.”

“No, now. I’m taking control of this situation.”

She wrapped her arms around me and kissed me hard. I could taste the wine on her lips, and I wondered just how much she’d drank.

“You’re mine, Clay. And I’m yours, so mark me already.”

I smiled, feeling my wolf calm at her words.

“We can discuss it later,” I repeated again.

“No, dammit. I’m tired of being an unmarked woman. Why won’t you claim me? Don’t you want me?”

“More than anything,” I replied honestly.

“Then tonight you’ll claim me.”

“Why don’t we get you inside first.”

She wrapped her arms around my neck and held on tightly as I lifted her easily into my arms and carried her inside.

As soon as the door shut behind me, Winnie had me pinned to it.

She exposed her neck to me fully.
