Lucy

Chapter 13

I couldn’t believe Micah had listened. My wolf was going insane. I was losing my mind. Vada was grumpy and irritable asking where Doc was every five seconds. I knew this was all my fault. I’d told him to stay away, but I never dreamed he’d actually listen. I had just been scared and freaked out when he wanted me to meet his parents. I knew it was stupid, but I couldn’t help it. Experience had caused this, hard life lessons.

Where the hell was he?

I wanted to pick up the phone and call him, but my pride just wouldn’t allow it.

He’d left his car here, surely he’d be back to get it.

I had barely survived through Saturday and by Sunday I could feel depression sinking in. I was ready to admit how very wrong I had been. Life without Micah was a million times worse than anything I’d ever lived through, and I was a survivor.

If I could overcome my past, then I could face anything, except a world without Micah.

I was ready to crawl to him on my hands and knees and grovel at his feet for forgiveness. I didn’t just need him, I missed him as if half of me was simply gone. The worst part of all was that I wasn’t sure he’d come back. I’d been pretty awful to him and no matter my reasons, it was time to face the facts.

Micah was my one true mate.

I was insanely in love with him.

By Sunday afternoon, I couldn’t take it any longer. I packed Vada up and drove over to his house. I had only been there once to play Dungeons and Dragons, but I had a good memory and a keen mind for details, especially when they involved him.

I left Vada in the car and ran up to the porch to knock on the door.

Nothing.

I peeked in the windows. I called out his name. And I knew it was all a moot point because I couldn’t feel his presence here and that scared the shit out of me.

Where was he?

I picked up the phone and called Kelsey. It rang four times, and I was about to hang up when she answered.

“Lucy?”

“Yeah, um, I’m really sorry to bother you, but I don’t know who else to call. Micah and I had a really big fight after ladies’ night, and I haven’t heard from him since. I can’t find him, Kelsey. It’s freaking me out. I just need to talk to him.”

“I thought you were going home to seal your bond?”

“He wanted me to meet his parents and I freaked out. I said some awful things and made him leave. What am I going to do?”

“You’re going to set your pride aside and get your ass over here. There’s been an accident, several rockslides at this point. Micah’s onsite helping. I can’t do this alone, Lucy. I need your help. I’m exhausted after this last healing and there are still more to come.”

“Micah’s there?”

“Yes.”

“I can’t, Kelsey, he doesn’t know.”

“I don’t give a shit. I need you right now. Don’t make me command you, Lucy.”

“I have Vada here.”

“Emma just got to Shelby’s to watch the triplets. She’s great with kids, I promise Vada will be safe there. Drop her off and Shelby will bring you here. But, Lucy, hurry.”

“I’m already en route.”

I had jumped back in the car the second she had said Micah was with her and was already driving. A few more turns and I pulled into Shelby’s driveway.
