He froze and I saw the fear in his eyes. “I’m not forcing this on you. You have a choice, Lucy.”
“Then shut up and take me home.”
“You’re saying yes?”
“Absolutely. This weekend was awful, and I never want to fight again and…”
He silenced me with a kiss as those around us cheered, then he cradled me in his arms and carried me off into the sunset to mark me as his.
It was about time.

Chapter 14
I couldn’t believe this was really happening. Lucy had basically just claimed me in front of the whole Pack, and she’d proudly proclaimed me, herself, and Vada to my father.
Of course, I knew her fears about my family were unfounded, but I also understood how deep the hurt and pain caused by her own family went. I made a personal vow to not let even a single day go by that she didn’t know without a doubt that she and Vada were loved unconditionally by me.
I couldn’t stop grinning as I drove her to my house. Aside from the time she’d showed up to play D&D, Lucy really hadn’t spent any time at my home. I tended to go to hers where we had everything we needed for Vada.
I couldn’t wait to bring my girls home, though it wasn’t the time to discuss details such as that.
The house Lucy was currently staying in was a rental property on loan to her, thanks to Kyle. I owned mine outright and it was larger with more room for us to grow into as a family.
My heart was ready to burst with happiness at the thought of a forever future with my mate.
She looked a little confused and I could feel her nerves starting to rise as I pulled up in front of the house. I hated the uncertainty on her face.
“Luce, we don’t have to do anything you aren’t ready for. I will wait as long as I have to.”
She turned to me and smiled.
“Just nervous. This is a big step.”
I nodded. “I know.”
She started to open the door and let herself out.
“Wait!”
I jumped out and ran around the front of the car to open the door for her. I offered her my hand. She grinned and shook her head as she took it.
Unable to stop myself, I pulled her into my arms and kissed her right there in the driveway.
She sighed and started to relax as she greedily kissed me back.
My lips didn’t leave hers as I swooped her up into my arms and carried her into the house.
Pulling back, she looked around and sniffed the air.
“It smells like you, almost like the clinic but without the disinfectant odor.”
I laughed.
“I hate that smell too, but it’s necessary to keeping the place sterile.”
“I know. I wasn’t complaining.”
