Chapter 18

Every lick, each nibble along her skin pushed her closer to the edge of the abyss. His mouth, his tongue, his fingers, played her body like she was a fine instrument. She ached for him, her core soaked and quivering, needing to be filled, but he refused. It was maddening.

“Jasper, baby, please. I need you.”

“You have me, Angel. But not today. You need to be treasured, we’ll have our time, but tonight is all about you.”

“But…”

“What did I tell you about those buts? Let me love you, Rori, let me satisfy your desires.”

“Oh God, this is torture.”

“No, Angel, this is love.” After that, there were no more words. He slid her soaked panties off and parted her thighs. Then he blew on her most private parts and fanned the flames of her desire. She thought she’d die of embarrassment as he stared at her. Then he slid his finger inside and when he pulled it out it glistened with her essence. Watching him slip his finger into his mouth and close his eyes, had to be one of the sexiest things she’d ever seen. He was going to be the death of her.

Licking his lips, he slid between her legs and when his tongue touched her most sensitive spot, she arched off the bed. Bright lights flashed in her eyes as her body shuddered and tightened, as he continued to lick, suck and nibble.

As she came, she cried out, moaning his name like a mantra over and over, as she rode the waves of pleasure. The heart-pounding release left her feeling boneless like a ragdoll.

Jasper moved up the bed and pulled her against him to cuddle. “Are you okay?”

“Oh, my God, yes. I thought last night was intense but seeing you, it was just wow.”

“What do you mean? I didn’t do anything different than last night.”

“I know, but last night was in the dark, and it seemed more intense. And well, Jim never—” her voice trailed off, she couldn’t bring herself to say it. She wasn’t a prude, but sex wasn’t something she discussed with anyone.

“I’m sorry to hear that, he didn’t know what he was missing.”

“When can we do it again?”

Jasper laughed and pulled her closer. “After you’ve gotten some rest. You’re supposed to stay calm. I doubt the doctor would say multiple orgasms is keeping you calm. I am looking forward to teaching you so many things. But you need to heal first. Then you can really enjoy it.”

“But you didn’t…”

“I told you, this was about you. I meant what I said last night. You will always come first.”

Joy filled her to overflowing, but there was sadness as well, for what would never be. Jasper made her complete in ways Jim never had, maybe he’d never been the right person for her. But would he be willing to settle down in one place when he was used to traveling the world? Pushing the thoughts from her head, she focused on the feel of his arms around her, the beat of his heart against her cheek, and the love filling her to the brim.

“Can I get you anything? Some water? Food?”

“Water and a Tylenol would be great.”

“I knew you should have filled that script.”

“No, it’s not bad, except for the pounding in my head. I’m really fine.”

“Hell yeah, you are, better than fine, and you better never forget it.”

Would she ever stop blushing when he said stuff like that? She loved how open he was, and how concerned about her wellbeing beyond the call of duty. But it was more, she loved him. There was no way to protect her heart, she’d given it to her protector.

He'd just walked back into her room with the glass of water when the building shook and a loud blast echoed through the apartment. It felt like an earthquake and almost knocked Jasper off his feet.

“What the fuck? I’m going to check the cameras. Can you get dressed without help?”

“Yes, but it will take longer than usual.”

“That’s okay, just don’t leave the apartment unless you smell smoke, or I come for you. Okay?”
