“Why not,” she asked.
“How will we deliver your wedding cakes? Who knows how long your van will be with the police?”
“Yeah, and who knows when my bakery will reopen. I’ve never been on a motorcycle. I’m up for it. But my car is at my parent’s house. We can always use that for now.”
“We’ll see,” Jasper said as he wrapped her seatbelt around her and gave her a kiss. “But not until after you’re feeling better.”

Rori was so excited she could barely contain it. Lily and Alex had been trying for so long to have a baby and now it was about to happen. They’d gotten close over the last six months when Lily’s cravings for sweets had her visiting the bakery on a daily basis. Sometimes she’d come in with Chloe and her baby, Andy, but mostly she’d stop by mid-morning and they’d chat when there was a lull in customers.
As they walked into the waiting area, it was a madhouse. Chase had been right, everyone who knew Alex and Lily, or at least it seemed like it, had piled into the small maternity ward waiting room, even Alex’s service dog, Hunter. Chloe said that Alex had tried to get him into the delivery room, but the doctor wasn’t having it.
“Rori, how are you? Chase told me what happened.”
“I’m fine, unfortunately, the bakery isn’t. Thank God Jasper and Chase were there.” Saying the words out loud brought tears to her eyes. But she’d rebuild and she was sure Jasper would help. It was just a building, they’d survived. That’s what really mattered.
“Well if you want to talk let me know.”
“Thanks, I really appreciate the offer.” Rori had forgotten that Faith was a psychologist and had been through her own living hell with a stalker. Jasper knew the story but said it was hers to tell.
After what seemed like hours, Alex walked through the doorway, exhausted but with a huge grin on his face. “It’s a boy and a girl. Mom and babies are doing great. I am going to need to grow extra arms.”
“Twins?” Rori laughed. No wonder Lily was so huge, and she’d kept dodging her questions about whether or not she knew the sex of the baby. They’d kept it a secret from everyone, including Chloe, Lily’s bestie. She looked shell-shocked but happy.
“Well look at you with that super sperm,” Rock responded. He was the other computer genius at ESP.
“Fuck, Rock, there are women here,” Chase admonished.
“So? That’s what equality is, right? Not like they don’t know what sperm are. Take a chill pill, Boss man.”
Jasper leaned over and whispered to Rori, “he’s going to pay for that. Chase will have him working midnights for weeks.” She couldn’t help giggling. Looking around the room it was like one big family, and with Jasper at her side, it was filling her heart to overflowing. If they caught the person behind her stalking, then everything would be wonderful.
“Are you feeling okay? You look a little wobbly, Angel.”
“I’m good. Really, really good.” She squeezed his hand and smiled. For the first time, it was the whole truth.

It didn’t take Rori long to get her wish. Jasper’s phone buzzed in his pocket and after checking the caller he gave Rori a kiss. “I need to take this outside. Will you be okay?”
“We’ll make sure she has whatever she needs,” Faith said.
“I’ll be fine, go take care of whatever it is.” She softened her words with a smile and another squeeze of his hand.
“I’ll be right back.”
The reception was horrible inside the hospital and he wouldn’t have been able to hear. Once he was outside, Jasper returned the call. “Hey, Steele, you called?”
“I thought you’d want to know that the two guys flipped on Cynthia Marshall as soon as we got them into custody. They were like two freakin’ canaries.”
“Seriously? I guess she royally fucked up when she hired those two fucktards.”
“That’s what Ethan said. All we had to say was attempted murder and they were blaming each other and then Cynthia.”
“Does that mean this ordeal is over for Rori?”
“It sure looks like it. But we don’t have Cynthia in custody yet. The captain has a friend who’s a Massachusetts State Trooper and she called up there and then sent the arrest warrant. They’ll let us know when she’s been apprehended.”
