“No, I fucked up. I was busy with customers and then he was gone. I’ll check the footage from the cameras, maybe they caught something.”
“If you turn up anything, forward the footage to Alex and Rock.”
“Will do. Hey, before I let you go. Who delivers pizza around here?”
Chase laughed and then gave him the number to Genna’s the local NY-style pizzeria. “Try their special coal-fired pizza. It’s the best around.”
“Thanks. I’ll email you later if the video shows anything or I have questions about the info you sent.”
“You’d better. Let me know if you need anything or if Rori does. Faith said she’d be happy to come over and help out at the bakery.”
“I’ll let Rori know. Talk to you tomorrow.”
“Night.”
Taking Chase’s recommendation, he ordered a medium coal-fired Genna’s special and a large salad. He could have cared less about the green stuff, but he figured that Rori might appreciate some ‘real’ food with the pizza.
While waiting for dinner to be delivered, he set the table and opened a bottle of wine. He was just about to check on Rori when he heard the blow dryer. She’d been in the shower a lot longer than the night before and he was starting to worry.
The door buzzer rang, and he checked the video monitor before he headed downstairs to get the pizza. The delivery driver looked like he was still in high school, and Jasper took their order and gave him a big tip. Before he went back upstairs he checked the area, making sure nothing looked out of place.
Rori was waiting for him when he walked in with the pizza. “That smells heavenly.”
“I told you pizza was real food. C’mon let’s eat, I’ll shower afterward. I’m starving.”
“When aren’t you?” she asked with a giggle.
