“Good. I called Tex and told him what we knew about Walker. He’ll be expecting your call in the morning with whatever other intel you got from Sky.”
“Copy that. There wasn’t a whole lot. But did get a few things to help make sure we have the right guy.”
“What she did was damn ballsy, especially considering her state of mind.”
“I agree, but she doesn’t see it that way,” Murph said.
“It’ll take time and some counseling like most cases of PTSD.”
“Right. I told them I’d stop over tomorrow after work. With any luck, Tex will have dug up some shit on Walker.”
“Is she going to lay low until then?” Jake asked.
“I explained to Pam it would be best if Sky stayed in the apartment, especially after the reward was posted. Fifty grand is a lot of money and there are too many people who might recognize her even with her new look.”
“Good. Okay, looks like you got everything covered. See you for PT.”
“Will do. Night, boss.”

As soon as they’d finished PT and he’d showered, Murph texted Sky. It was still early but he couldn’t shake the need to know she was safe.
Murph:Morning, Sky. This is Murph. Just checking in.
Sky:Morning. Mom and I are drinking coffee.
Relieved she answered right away, he smiled as he took a big gulp from his own coffee.
Murph:You’re staying inside today, right?
She hadn’t been happy last night when they’d discussed it, but Pam had agreed it was for the best. It probably seemed like Sky replaced Walker’s jail with a new one that was safer. But until they could figure out what made him tick, it was her safest option.
Sky:Yes. But I don’t like it.
Murph:It shouldn’t be for too long. We’ll come by later.
Sky:We?
Murph:Yeah, the team.
Sky:You don’t have to. Mom says hi.
He’d expected something along those lines. But it didn’t change anything. Nothing except a mission would keep him from seeing her later. Jake and the rest of the guys wanted to talk to her again.
Murph:Text or call if anything comes up. See you later.
Sky:Bye.
“Everything okay?” Rafe asked as he poured a cup of coffee.
“Yeah, she’s scared and frustrated, not that I blame her. She just wanted to get on with her life.”
“She will. Did you talk to Tex yet?” Jake asked as he joined them.
“Nope, that was my next call. I just needed to make sure Sky was okay first.”
The look exchanged between Rafe and Jake didn’t go unnoticed, but he didn’t care. Let them think what they wanted. He was just concerned about her welfare. Nothing more. That’s it. But the little voice in his head yelled bullshit as loud as it could.
