“You better not be fucking with my friend,” Meghan said as she appeared behind Harmony. “You’ll be sorry.”
Ry laughed. “No tumble in the sheets for you, Rafe.”
“C’mon, Spitfire. I only teased her a little,” Rafe said.
Meghan winked at Harmony, and she giggled. Would that be her and Ry someday?
“Want to come to the ladies’ room with me?” Meghan asked.
“Sure.”
“We’ll be right back,” Meghan said to the SEALs and gave Rafe a quick kiss on the lips.
“Where’s mine?” Ry asked.
Before Harmony could answer, Meghan responded. “Suck it, Ry.”
The guys' laughter followed them as they walked away.
They’d barely entered the restroom when Meghan peppered Harmony with questions.
“Are you okay? Ry told Josh, and he told Rafe about what happened at the bank today. It sounded fucking horrible.”
“Really? It spread like wildfire, huh? Yes, I’m fine. Just upset for my client.” Harmony added another item to the mental list of things to discuss when they were alone.
“Well, I think he was just so shocked that it happened. He really likes you. It surprised the guys, but Chrissy and I knew you two were fucking perfect for each other.”
“Whoa, there. This is our first date. Don’t go picking out china patterns or anything. Besides, I bet the first time I spill a cup of coffee or beer on him, he’ll run for the hills.”
“No way. You don’t know much about SEALs, do you?” Meghan asked.
“Only what I saw on TV when SEAL Team Six killed Osama bin Laden. And, well—”
“What?” Meghan asked, clearly curious.
“Just what I learned in the romance novels I’ve read. But I’m sure they make most of that up.” Harmony glimpsed herself in the mirror. Her cheeks were turning pinker by the moment as heat slid up her neck and into her face.Gawd.
“You are so freakin’ cute. Or maybe it’s innocence.” Meghan hugged her.
“I’m not innocent. Just cautious. My father would have killed me if he found me reading romance.” Harmony moaned. When would she learn to keep her mouth shut?
“You’re kidding, right?”
Harmony shrugged her shoulders and sighed. “I wish, but he’s one reason I moved here. I needed to get away from him. It was pure luck I saw the posting for this job on the bank’s website.
“I’m so sorry. Should we jump in the car and go take the fucker out?” Meghan’s cheeks flushed with anger.
“No, definitely not. And you need to promise not to tell Rafe if he’s going to tell Ry. Sky said they were overprotective guys, and I don’t need to set him off. I’ve had more than my share of being controlled.”
“Oh Har, he wouldn’t ever try to control you. But it would horrify him that anyone, especially family, hurt you.”
“Maybe, we’ll see. But I need you to promise me, Meghan. Please.”
Meghan sighed and shook her head. “I promise not to tell Rafe. But I’m not happy about it.”
Harmony smiled. “I know, I can tell. But like Ry didn’t tell me Sky’s story, this is mine to tell if I decide he needs to know.”
“I think I misjudged you a little,” Meghan said, as she quirked an eyebrow.
