Tempest nodded and sat down on the couch. There was nothing to do but wait and hope they didn’t go boom before the SEALs could dig them out. “I hate waiting.”

“Me, too. Nothing worse. How about a distraction?” Josh asked.

Tempest’s thoughts went straight to the gutter. One kiss. That’s all it had taken, and she couldn’t get sex off her mind.

When Josh laughed, she realized her face must have given her away. Tempest’s cheeks flooded with heat, and she shook her head. “What did you have in mind? I didn’t see any games or even a deck of cards in any of the offices when I checked for the phone.”

“I have a deck in my pack if you want to play cards, but I was thinking we could try to get to know each other.”

“Like twenty questions?” she asked.

“Or we could play Truth or Dare?” Josh wiggled his eyebrows with a devilish grin.

Südas. She’d never played it, but from the look on his face, it would be nothing but trouble. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Okay, no Truth or Dare. Twenty questions it is. You go first.” Josh grabbed two bottles of water from the desk and brought them over to the couch, then pulled out a couple of candy bars from his pack.

“Wait a minute. You had those all along and you didn’t tell me?” Tempest’s mouth watered just thinking about a piece of chocolate.

“You don’t carry food in your pack?”

“Sure. Protein bars, granola and nuts, tablets for drinkable water, but that’s it.”.

“I guess you want one of these?” Josh teased as he offered her the candy.

“Are you kidding me? Have you met many women?” She laughed at the irony considering his nickname—Heartbreaker—as she took the candy and tore open the wrapper. “I’d do just about anything for coffee and chocolate. Wait, do you have coffee in there, too? I might have to kiss you again if you do.”

“Well damn, I’m afraid not. Doc usually carries the coffee. But I might have to change that in the future if it’ll earn me more kisses.”

“Maybe you should.” Tempest took a bite of the chocolate and groaned. It was the best thing ever as it melted on her tongue. Okay, maybe not the best thing. Josh’s kiss was better, but it definitely came in a close second.

Fuck. Josh felt like a voyeur as Tempest bit into the chocolate bar. His cock twitched against the fabric of his jeans when she groaned. It took every ounce of his willpower not to pull her onto his lap and kiss her until she melted like the chocolate in her mouth. Instead, he adjusted himself as he reached for the water bottle, hoping she wouldn’t notice the bulge pressing against his zipper.

“So, are you going to ask me a question?”

“Mmm, what? Oh yeah, sorry. I’m having a moment,” Tempest said with a grin.

“I can see that, and I can’t believe that I’m fucking jealous of the candy bar.”

“Really?”

Color painted her cheeks a rosy hue as she licked her lips and grinned. How had he ever thought she was an ice queen? She was anything but cold. He’d just had to get past the walls she’d erected.

“Yes, really. So, you should stop licking your lips like that. It’s damn cruel.” Josh didn’t try to hide his desire. He wanted her, more than he’d wanted anyone before.

Maybe it was the chance that they wouldn’t make it out of this building, but it felt like more. So much more. But it had to be Tempest’s choice. If she didn’t want more, he was a big boy and would deal with it.

“You mean you don’t want me to do this?” As she held his gaze, Tempest’s tongue slid out of her mouth and trailed along her lower lip.

Josh’s cock throbbed in his jeans as he imagined what else she could lick. And from her grin, she knew it, too. Fuck.

“I’m going to kiss you again. If you don’t want it, tell me now.” Josh barely held back his groan. He wanted more than a kiss. He wanted her naked underneath him, writhing as he made her come again and again. But it was too fast, too soon. Even as the voice in his head reminded him it might be their only chance.

Josh held his breath as he waited for her answer and tried to tamp down his desire. She continued to chew on her lower lip, their gazes still connected. The blood pounded so loudly in his head that he barely heard her whispered response.

“Kiss me.”
