“I only do that when it’s appropriate.”
“We’re not at the point in our relationship to talk about your dick just yet, but I’m curious about what they say about horses. Come on.”
This witch was quite forward. I could see why my mother was smitten and kept being Loki a secret until he absolutely had to reveal the truth. I just hoped Ravyn and Killian understood that because Loki deserved to be happy.
Chapter35
Bjorn
Icouldn’t control my visions or what I saw. They just happened, and sometimes I saw terrible things. But, I didn’t regret the gift Loki gave me when he created me because I saw wonderful things too. I helped Loki save his child, and we would stop Thorunn from returning.
Sleipnir and I were the only people in the pocket realm. He was a lot more restless than I was because he was a prisoner once before. When he was shifted, he could run to any realm he liked. He could have run straight out of the realm we were in back home, but he trusted his mother.
After being trapped as a horse and barely spoken to, Sleipnir craved human contact. I tried to keep him entertained, and we were close friends, but I think he would have been happier if more people were there with us.
We were there a long time. I didn’t have my vision of Ravyn until we were already there, but I saw her more than once. I told Sleipnir about all of my visions, but it was different for him because he didn’t see them like I did. I didn’t see Loki in a relationship with Ravyn and Killian, but it didn’t really surprise me.
I didn’t quite understand the vision of a place with yellow arches outside that served beef between strange bread, but it seemed popular. Honestly, I still didn’t understand why I saw that, but I trusted Ravyn and Loki with the cheeseburgers a lot more than Sleipnir did.
Killian and Loki had already started devouring theirs. Ravyn was watching us with this naughty look on her face. It was kind of sexy. The cheeseburgers smelled amazing, and I wanted to try it, but we needed to get Sleipnir on board, or he would sneak out and try to kill something to eat. Loki looked wholly amused and that he knew the same thing I did.
“Son, the rules of hospitality are much different in this century, but it’s generally considered rude to turn your nose up at something you haven’t tried because you don’t think you’ll like it.”
“That doesn’t look like any bread I’ve eaten before.”
“Will you please just take a bite and try it? You can spit it out if you don’t like it, and I’ll order you something else.”
“Weird déjà vu,” Ravyn said. “My mom used to say something similar to Ripley and me all the time if she cooked a new recipe. We always like it. Take a big bite for me, big guy.”
Sleipnir looked so confused. I’d been around him enough to know he loved the attention of a pretty woman but would have feelings about getting them from one involved with his mother. Loki seemed to have no issue with it at all and just gave Sleipnir an encouraging nod.
Sleipnir finally picked up his cheeseburger so that I could eat mine. I took a bite and groaned as a combination of the juices from the meat, bread, and cheese hit my mouth. If Sleipnir didn’t like this, I might have to revoke his friend card after all our centuries together.
“Oh, wow. I didn’t mess my pants up, but that’s superb,” Sleipnir groaned.
What exactly had Ravyn said to him when they disappeared? I didn’t have super hearing like Loki did, but I could guess. This witch was totally inappropriate, and I loved it.
“Now that Sleipnir and Bjorn have tried a new food and we are getting to eat, there’s still more you need to know about the cult.”
“Yes, we do need to know more about them,” Killian said.
“Okay, so the last time I talked to Reyson, he didn’t have any creations, and I haven’t met any since then, so he might not have explained this. Lilith had way too much going on when you met her. We can create a vessel and give it magical powers, but intelligence and personality are something we don’t dictate.
“Thorunn wasn’t the smartest hybrid I made. Most of the spells in the grimoire were written by Asfrid and I. Asfrid was brilliant, but a little meek. Thorunn wasn’t even the strongest at magic or when she was shifted. She did have a ton of charisma and a fat head.”
She really did. She took the whole Angrboda thing way too far because she was obsessed with Loki. Loki viewed all of us like his children. He was never interested in having sex with us, and he promised his wife not to. Much of what he would say next was news to me, too, because I didn’t know what happened after they captured him.
“After Reyson freed me, I shape shifted into a warlock like you see now. It kept people off my trail. I went around asking about them. Thorunn went around trying to convince everyone she was Angrboda. She traveled to different villages and tried to perform magic tricks or shift into a bear. That was nothing like what the real Angrboda could do. Some people believed her, but a good bit of them didn’t.
“If they didn’t, Thorunn and her followers would slaughter everyone there. They would leave one person alive to spread the word Angrboda killed them for not believing. Most everyone knew she wasn’t Angrboda, and anyone she left alive told people a total psychopath was killing people.”
That sounded about right. I saw she would become unhinged and dangerous, but I didn’t see everything. I saw she would take this total obsession with Angrboda way too far, but I couldn’t imagine this.
Ravyn leaned forward and put her elbows on her knees.
“The way conspiracy theory nuts are out and proud now, they’d eat that shit up. Bjorn, did you see how she plans on returning?”
“I saw Asfrid writing a spell in their grimoire, but that’s about it.”
