“Man, was I sure glad when the seer told me to come back here in look at that pretty face again.”

“Took you long enough,” Reyson boomed. “I’ve been trying to find you for days.”

“You must be the god. Bram.”

“Reyson. Is there any reason you spent so long in Hell when Dorian and Silvaria are up to no good?”

“Waiting for a seer to have a vision. My master went to collect Dorian’s soul. He’s missing. No one here should have the ability to kill a demon. It takes a special weapon that you can only get in Hell, and no demon would give that out for a deal. I don’t think Talvath is dead, but I can’t sense him anywhere. The seer told me to come to the Library of the Profane, and I would have help.”

Well, this was the perfect place. We had all these books, Dorian’s painting, and a god to help figure this out. I wanted to help Bram in any way I could, but I didn’t particularly want to find his master so he could go back to being a slave. Still, I’d have to so we could stop Dorian.

I grabbed a chair and pulled it up to my desk. I pat the seat for Bram to join us.

“We’ve been looking at books on demon lore. Some of these books have theories on trapping demons, but I don’t think any of them actually work. Can you look at these books and tell me if any of these runes and incantations would trap a demon? It may help us find your master.”

Balthazar was still glued to his laptop. Reyson had gone back into his trance, probably to watch Dorian this time.

“If Silvaria is hiding a demon, I think I know where,” Balthazar said. “She’s got a storage container that was built on an old Native American gravesite. Capitalism, right?”

“She’s been sending emails every day to this warlock to make sure he’s checked on the contents. If there’s a demon in there, he probably needs to eat.”

“Let’s go get him!” Bram said.

“Hold up there, Sparky,” Gabriel said. “Silvaria has made a deal with a demon. If she’s figured out how to keep a demon hostage, there are probably some really nasty magical booby traps to make sure no one gets in that isn’t supposed to. I’m not talking about curses either. Silvaria is going down a dark road. It’s probably evil, killing magic.”

Shit. He was right. I watched the warlock magic bounce right off Reyson, but if Bram’s master was missing, then anything could be possible. Silvaria could have found a spell to trap Reyson too. I needed to think.

“Do you see anything in these books that would make it possible to contain a demon?” Felix asked.

Bram bit down on his lip ring.

“Not on their own. But if you combined bits and pieces from four of these pages, it could work. The odds of figuring that out without getting killed would have been very slim.”

“It would really help if Silvaria were one of those dumbasses who digitized their grimoire,” Balthazar said. “Or if she was giving out her information online instead of in person.”

“Now that Bram is here, I can watch Silvaria and Dorian,” Reyson said.

I saw this lightbulb go off over Reyson’s head and his entire face lit up.

“Bram, you’re a shifter, right? Kind of like a wolf?”

I jumped across my desk and clapped my hand over his mouth. I knew exactly where this was going.

“Bram just got here. Let’s not run him off.”

“I’m far superior to a wolf, but I don’t have the same freedom.”

Reyson was trying to talk around my hand, and I glared at him.

“Don’t you dare!”

“Is there something you aren’t telling me?” Bram asked.

Felix snorted.

“Reyson is super curious about shifter cock.”

Of course, my familiar had to betray me. I was mortified. Bramjustgot here, and now everyone wanted to know about his dick. Bram certainly wasn’t embarrassed. He puffed out his chest and adjusted his crotch.
