“It’s pierced, and I’ve got the knot.”
Balthazar and Reyson let out a little groan. Fuck.Ilet out a small moan. Bram was just smirking at us because we were all panting at the idea of his cock. His hand went to his fly.
“Want to see?”
My hand was still clamped over Reyson’s mouth. Reyson nodded enthusiastically. Balthazar just flashed just fangs and grinned. I just scowled. This wasnothappening in my library.
“Do nottake your dick out in my library!”
Bram just shrugged. Gabriel rolled his eyes.
“Now that’s out of the way, can we get back to the demons and Bram’s master?” Gabriel said.
“Silvaria just emailed Dorian. They are both feeling the pull to the library. They are certain it’s Reyson. Silvaria thinks Ripley is some idiot who is keeping him safe until she can come to claim him. How did this witch get to be on the board? She’s the queen of stupidity.”
That was the problem. Silvaria was vapid, but she wasn’t stupid. She was pretty damned cunning. This whole thing thinking she could control Reyson was dumb unless she knew something we didn’t. We just learned someone had pieced together runes to trap a demon.
Reyson said nothing existed that could control him. Bram thought the same thing about what people knew here on Earth. But clearly, someone had managed if Talvath was missing.
“We need a game plan,” I announced.
“We need to rescue Talvath,” Bram said.
“We can’t do that until we figure out the wards and spells on that storage container,” Felix said.
“Then we need to take Dorian out of the equation,” Bram said. “Talvath was here for Dorian’s soul. I can take Dorian’s soul, and this Silvaria will have to plot without him. I just need to find his painting. Talvath put his soul in the painting to make him immortal.”
I grinned. Things were falling into place.
“I’ve got the painting here in the vaults of the library.”
Dorian Gray was going down.
Chapter 40
Balthazar
I
didn’t particularly want to look at that nasty painting. The idea of ripping my soul out and stashing it in a picture so I could be pretty for a long time was an abomination to me. There was a lot of beauty in wrinkles. Many people didn’t see that.
I was off on a scouting mission. Felix was riding bitch on my motorcycle because I needed a witch for this. I knew he didn’t want to leave Ripley behind, but he was a kinky little cat. He was letting her get to know Gabriel and Bram better by giving them space. I dug it, but I wanted time with her too. I got my snuggle time with Reyson, and it was all I could do not to bite him. I wanted sleep spooning Ripley next.
The storage site was way out of the way. It honestly never should have been built. Someone had to grease some palms to get it built on a Native American burial site, but people had been fucking those people over since they landed on these shores.
I got bad vibes from the place when I parked my bike. I broke into goosebumps, and my fangs tingled like a fight was coming. Felix hopped off my bike and stood next to me.
“This must be where a lot of witches and warlocks are storing things too dangerous to keep at the houses. This place reeks of dark magic. One call to Ravyn and everything here would be destroyed or locked up at the Museum of the Profane.”
I hissed. I hated it here already.
“Silvaria’s container is all the way in the back. We’re going to have to walk through these dank vibes to get to it.”
“I’m going to change into the cat. Can you put my clothes in your gear bag, so they don’t get dirty?”
“Of course.”
I knew Felix had been Ripley’s familiar until Reyson gave him his body back, but I’d never seen him as the cat before. I’d never seen him change. It differed totally than when shifters changed. I didn’t hear his bones snapping, and it was over pretty quickly. A black tomcat crawled out of Felix’s trousers. I stared at the cat.
