I’d gotten creative before, and I could do it now.
And they had no problem bringing me to medical with them. I hadn’t seen Venus since she took the beating from the shifters. I had to give Whisper some credit. She knew Rei wasn’t a fox shifter like her, but she had her people beat the shit out of Venus. I had such a hard time not letting my face betray how much I enjoyed looking at her busted face.
Why was she still here? Most people didn’t stay here this long after a prison beating. The guards didn’t try too hard to find out who did it. I used to think no one was stupid enough to rat on who beat them, but I also never thought Brody’s prison fantasies would come true, but here we were.
Venus didn’t rat out the foxes. I doubt she wanted to set that precedent. She might have framed the eagles for Astrid, but there was no way she could have snitched without this coming back at her in a very fatal way.
“Is it done?” Venus asked.
Karin beamed like this little puppy who had just been thrown a treat.
“He asked for a blood oath, but he did it just like we said he would. He’ll doanythingfor us for a little sex.”
Seriously? Venus asked these witches to prostitute themselves to Brody, and no one had questions about that? The rest of the prisoners wouldn’t think it was some genius plan. Everyone saw the guards as the people keeping us behind bars. Several of them, Brody included, shocked people with their batons for shits and giggles.
There were male and female guards here. The rules were the same for all of them. You didn’t fuck them, even if they were one of the nice ones. What had happened in the world that all the witches in here were going crazy?
“Good,” Venus said. “Keep working him. They are going to let me out of here in just over a week. My ribs are healing well. Rei is mine. She dies when I get out, and then we make our move on the mailroom. We don’t need the sphinx and the gargoyle to tell us how they are getting things in now that we have Brody.”
This was so fucked up, and I couldn’t believe people were listening to this. Brody couldn’t even handle a hot plate, much less smuggling the amount of contraband Rajack and Dakarys brought in. This was doomed to fail.
I didn’t need to figure out how to kill her in medical. It would have been impossible. We all had to sign in to get into here, and there were cameras everywhere. There was a guard posted at the door and a very persistent nurse checking on everyone.
It wasn’t my style. I could poison her in here if I had the time, which I didn’t. Like a good little witch, I knew of several poisons that would make it look natural and couldn’t be traced. They were super hard to find, though. Rajack and Dakarys were good. I knew they could get one of them before we broke out of here.
It also wasn’t my style. I preferred making things look like accidents. The few times I didn’t landed me a life sentence in Silverhold. I resolved to stick with accidents here in Silverhold.
Not for Venus. Everyone here in Silverhold was going to know someone shanked her in the gut. If we got out of here, they’d know it was me.
That was going to be my legacy here in Silverhold.
