“I’m just kissing her! We need to be planning this rescue mission.”
“You aren’t doing anything, Leif,” Aeron grunted. “You need to be vaccinating as many people as possible. Wasn’t that guy,Derrick, a nurse? He can help you.”
“Vaccinations can wait a day,” Dice said. “We’re going to need all four Horsemen to pull this off.”
“He’s right. Maybe Pepper can babysit your Nephilim.”
I flipped Asher my middle finger.
“If Daria is coming, so am I.”
Leif snuggled back into the mattress and pulled me in close to his chest.
“Maybe if you see her in action, you’ll see Speedy can handle herself.”
“Ariel is going to kick your ass one day,” Aeron said.
“We aren’t leaving her behind. She has a right to be there.”
Asher just threw up his hands.
“Fine! But if she fucks this up, it’s on you. We have one shot at getting those women away from the Witch.”
I wasn’t just getting those women out. I apparently had to prove my prowess to the Horseman of Conquest.
Chapter 9
A
eron, Dice, Asher, and Leif were all celestial beings, but they were still men. I had scientific proof they weren’t Ken dolls below the waist because I’d fucked three of the Four Horsemen. They wanted to burst into that cathedral and make a big mess to screw with the Bubbas. I got why we were doing that, but it was a little fucked up that I had four angels so willing to mess up a church.
The women in that church didn’t need a bunch of men telling them what to do again. We needed more women than just me and Daria. They didn’t know me at all. Some women might not be from the resistance, but I kept arguing we should bring more women from that group along, so they knew we were friendly.
“Some of those women might not know your faces and that you’ve been working with the resistance. They could assume you’re kidnapping them to take them somewhere even worse than their situation with the Bubbas. Have we forgotten people have resorted to cannibalism?” I said.
I expected Leif to agree with me first, but Asher shocked the shit out of me.
“She’s right. Out of all of us, I’m the most well-known in the resistance, and I don’t know everyone there. We don’t want to traumatize them any more than they already have been. Pepper and her girls have really stepped up since all this went down. They know how to fight, but they also help keep the peace in the resistance. They could handle it if we brought them.”
Of course, they could. Some girls on my roller derby and then softball team had worked at strip clubs. We’d go as a team to cheer them on during their set. I saw the shit they went through and had developed an enormous amount of respect for strippers. They sometimes had to deal with the dregs of humanity while smiling and putting people in their place in such a skillful way that they still tipped you.
“We don’t know them,” Aeron pointed out.
Asher pointed at me.
“I don’t knowher,but she’s tagging along. Your Nephilim is right. We could end up making things worse, unless they see someone they know.”
“Youcouldknow Ariel. You’re trying damned hard not to,” Leif said. “I agree with Asher and Ariel, and she breaks the tie, in case Dice is against it.”
Dice let out an evil chuckle.
“Oh, I’m totally on board, because I have an idea. They think Asher is a Bubba. If we show up with a bunch of women, they’ll let us inside because they’ll think we’ve kidnapped them. We’ll be out of view of any nosy Bubbas, and that’s when the magic can happen. If Speedy lets me hold Smurfette for a little while, I can sneak her in.”
I stroked her smooth, aluminum shaft. Yeah, I didn’t think she would mind Dice holding her. I mean, his dick had been in my mouth, after all. We were at the point we could share weapons.
“We are both down with that.”
“How are you going to arm the rest of the women?” Leif asked. “We can’t ask them to go in unarmed.”
