Solitary was fucking boring. This wasn’t my first stretch down here. Brody had thrown me in here more than once, which I deserved, but he was just so much fun to fuck with. If I had known he would be the one that spoiled our breakout, I would have killed him way before Faust snapped his neck. There wasn’t much to do in prison, and antagonizing that little worm was how I got my rocks off.
Faust was fun to poke, but he didn’t visit nearly as often as I would have liked. It was one of the few things that would make the time go by faster. He was watching over Rei. That was where I wanted him to be, really, but it was still fun to watch him fight with his wolf when I told him to bring me a sandwich.
I hoped Rei was okay. Brody hit her with some nasty magic. She would have bled out if I hadn’t healed her. This was the worst stint in solitary ever, because Rei was down here with me, and she was hurt. Astridnevergot sent here, and she always got mad at me when I did.
She still thought it was funny when I made Brody pitch a tantrum, though.
It wasn’t just different this time because of Rei, but also because I was going to be down here alongass time. Brody wouldn’t come to fetch me when he calmed down. We had tried to break out of here, and now the warden’s nephew was dead. He was such a fuckup, but he was her family, and she kept covering for him. Warden Snow was never letting us out of here until we went crazy and ended up in the psych ward.
So, color me totally shocked when the door was flung open and Faust was standing there, with Dakarys and Rajack. They were all grinning like fools. I was happy to get out of solitary, but it wasn’t like we won the fucking lottery. This was still prison.
“I have a proposition for you, witch,” Faust said, as he smirked at me.
“Spit it out, or I’ll kick you in your wolfy nuts.”
“I didn’t know what Rei was until she sprouted an extra tail in solitary. Demons aren’t supposed to serve prison sentences here. Before I could do anything about that, some demons showed up for Rei. Apparently, she’s an important person in Hell, but she wouldn’t agree to leave unless she could bring her prison gang with her. She was fuckingmagnificent,making Warden Snow her little bitch! I don’t want to like her demon fiancé, but he did me a solid and threatened to totally fuck up the warden’s life if she didn’t release you. You can walk out of here if you follow Rei to Hell, but they might have some pretty strong opinions on us killing people there.”
That was…a lotto process. There was probably a wolf, a Sphinx, and a gargoyle who were hating the idea of a fiancé showing up out of nowhere, but I could dig random guys with hero complexes when it came to wooing the ladies, even more so if it got me out of a life sentence in prison.
“I don’t have any skills… except killing people and sarcasm. I am pretty cute, though. I can totally retire from the murder business if it means getting out and being with Rei. I haven’t met him, but the fiancé seems cool.”
“I was going to kill him, but he not only got all of you out, he also invited me, in front of the warden, and gave me a chance to disappear. I think he knows about the whole mate thing and doesn’t care. I can’t murder him now.”
“You two are fucked up,” Dakarys said. “If Rei really is important in Hell, then I doubt they’d arrange her marriage with some random demon peasant. You don’t even know what kind of demon he is. They might eat witches and wolves as a delicacy if you misbehave! They are secretive bastards. We don’t even know all of the different kinds there are.”
“I thought Kitsunes were fiction, until I saw Rei with fox ears and three tails.”
“She grew another tail, and I missed it? What new power did she get?” Rajack demanded.
“Uhh… she set the toilet on fire.”
“Badass!” Rajack said.
“I just think she’s sexy as fuck with those ears and tails,” I said. “It would be kinky as fuck if she brought that out in the bedroom.”
We could do that now, and in a proper bed instead of a metal cot with a shitty mattress. Yeah, I had big plans once we got out of here. I didn’t even care if her demon fiancé wanted to watch. That could be pretty damn sexy, too, as long as he kept his cockfaraway from me. I was strictly look, don’t touch with the male species.
“Wren, I respect your body of work, but when you talk about my mate like that, I really want to slit your throat and leave you in a gutter somewhere.”
“You can get butt hurt all you want, but now that you’ve seen it, I know you’re thinking about it, too.”
Faust just growled at me. Every last one of us was thinking about it, even if Faust wanted to pretend he was a frigid bitch and the idea offended him. I want to bury myself between her thighs and yank those tails, and I fully intended to do just that, once we were out of here.
“Enough!” Faust growled. “Why are we standing around talking about how completely adorable Rei looks when she has her tails out? You’re free now, and Warden Snow wants you out of here yesterday. Solitary is a shit hole, even if you’re here as a guard. Let’s get out of here.”
I didn’t fuck with men. I could appreciate that some of them were pretty, and I didn’t mind working with them, but I’d kill a bitch for touching me. Still, I’d be rotting in solitary if this random fiancé hadn’t shown up. I had a pretty good idea about what Rei’s opinion was about that, but he probably got bonus points for helping her spring us and inviting the wolf. There was no way they’d say anything about that in front of the warden.
I was so giving Rei a big ass kiss when I saw her again, and I might even be feeling happy enough to hug the fiancé, too.
