I grunted, because I knew that fucking witch was right. Someone would notice if I killed every single witch in Silverhold. Warden Snow would start looking into the mysterious deaths in here very fucking closely. I didn’t need that kind of attention.
“I still could have stopped Venus before she caught up to you if I wasn’t busy dodging punches and actually knew what was going on.”
“Anyway, you can’t bring Rei to medical unless you want everyone to find out she’s not a fox shifter. She’s not dead yet, but she might be if they shoot her up with fox blood. You have a choice, furry butt… either calm your tits and bring me a sandwich until she wakes up on her own, or make an ass of yourself with the warden trying to get her to medical. You’ll have to tell them you knew she wasn’t just a fox, so they don’t give her the wrong blood, and then your grumpy ass will get fired for not telling anyone.”
“One day, my wolf is going to eat you, witch.”
“No, he’s not. You won’t come at me while I’m wearing these handcuffs because it’s not a fair fight. You may not like me, but you respect my methods too much to come at me when I can’t fight back. Plus, Rei would know it was you, and she’d hate you for it.”
“Is that why you’re getting all cozy with my fucking mate?! Because you think I’m going to kill you when I no longer need you?”
“I’m not stupid, Faust. If I thought you were going to try to kill me, I’d just get to you first. I wouldn’t dream of getting close to a wolf’s mate when he happens to be a trained assassin, unless it happened by accident. So you know, I didn’t want to babysit her, but she grew on me.”
“Why couldn’t you just ignore that shit?” I growled.
“You’ve met the girl, Faust. Even if she weren’t your fucking mate, your shriveled up black heart would be interested like mine is.”
I grunted. I wasn’t having this conversation. I’d heard what I needed to hear. I wouldn’t kill Wren because she was right. Rei would know it was me.
I still wasn’t bringing her a fucking sandwich. The meal cart would be by later. The mate stealing witch could wait.
