“I doubt she’s going to tell anyone, so we can try to stop it,” Dakarys said. “She’s probably counting on them to rescue her.”

Sota just shrugged like that wasn’t a tremendous problem. That was totally going to be a thing. We’d dealt with the best from the US branch of the Aether Circle… shit we’d annihilated them, but they were probably going to be like cockroaches and keep coming back. The gates were overwhelmed once. They could be again.

“That’s why we need to go to Bael’s and plan. Amduscias and his crew will be there after they’ve cleaned up. Bael is a genius. He probably already has a plan. Hell has wanted to take down the Aether Circle for a long time now, they were just too vast and connected to do it without losing allies on Earth.

“Everyone on Earth knows you don’t pass through our gates without an invitation. Breaching our gates and killing demons is a much bigger crime than stealing a damn grimoire. Most everyone is more scared of us than them. They will turn them over to us. If that’s not already Bael’s thought process, I’ll be suggesting it to him.”

I might not know Sota all that well, but I had immense respect for him. He always seemed to just get what I needed, without me needing to say it. Sota would do whatever was needed to protect both me and everyone in Hell. I’m pretty sure several realms were looking for ways to take out the Aether Circle.

Their witchy, murderous stank probably wasn’t limited to Earth and demons either, they’d probably pissed off the Fae, too. Sota had a plan. He kept going on about how cunning Bael was, and he wasn’t giving himself any credit.

I wasn’t stupid. Warden Snow had no choice but to let me walk out of her prison. Of course, I could have made my stand and refused to leave without my friends, but now that I’d met some demons, I could have easily been forced to Hell. Sota could have opened portals all over solitary until he found me, and Solron could travel anywhere there was a shadow.

If he could have done that for me, he could have screwed Warden Snow over and done it for my friends. They would have put up a fight, but I imagine he could have talked them down and let them know he was bringing them somewhere safe with me.

Sota was fierce in battle, but he also knew when not to fight. He knocked Warden Snow down several pegs and got her to release my friends with just his verbal skills. He was using his brain to figure out how to dismantle the Aether Circle.

As far as a demon fiancé you didn’t know about, Sota wasn’t a horrible choice. He was sexy as fuck, and he was overall pretty amazing. I needed to make a point to get him alone and get to know him, away from everyone else.

After my shower, I had a witch to bite.
