I expected them to make us give the clothes back, and I had no problem with that. It wasn't easy getting into them, and I wasn’t quite sure how to take them off. If someone helped me, I’d happily give them back. Taron went to remove his. We didn’t even have to communicate to agree on that.

We were both utterly shocked when Forrest and Callum started stripping off their clothes and handing them to the couple. There seemed to be this massive difference between clothing meant for males and what they required females to wear. I would have much preferred wearing what Taron had on.

Something appeared to be going on that I didn’t even remotely understand. Wasn’t someone going to be punished for walking about without clothes? I thought that rule was stupid, but you had to be strong to survive in the ocean. I would have stolen those clothes anyway because I certainly didn’t want it to be Taron and me in trouble for this stupid rule.

The land dwellers were more familiar with this than we were, but Forrest and Callum still stripped down until they hardly wore anything. Chloe and her beau didn’t seem to care about nudity on the beach or when she found me and hit me, but they both happily took the clothes and put them on.

I was regretting pretending not to be able to speak because I had questions. Now, the brothers didn’t have clothes, and no one was trying to assault me.

“There, see?” Forrest said. “If anyone sees us, my father will just assume we had too much to drink and make excuses like he always does. So forget you met these two. We’ll reimburse you for the clothes.”

“And the food,” the man said. “That was the best cheese and pie in the entire kingdom, and I paid a ton of money for the wine.”

“Your charity is astounding,” Callum growled. “These two may have ended up on the same beach as you because of a shipwreck. Why else would they be there with no clothes and have to steal yours?”

Taron made this noise. We were both trying not to laugh. I didn’t even have to speak to try to explain things. They just made things up to explain anything they didn’t understand. I could definitely use that.

All the stealing and exchanging of clothing appeared to make up a few minds. Chloe and her partner went on their way like Taron and I hadn’t ruined their night. The brothers appeared to have come to an agreement now that they were wearing way fewer clothes.

Beck slapped Forrest on the back like this was all funny.

“I have an entire wardrobe in my love nest. We can get dressed there. They should fit our strange new friend too. Nissa owes me a favor, and we can trust her. She can make something that fits for the female.”

“Well, let’s get there before someone sees us,” Forrest said. “Father won’t believe we lost our clothes without a fight. Let’s just hope Chloe and Gerard get home before someone sees them wearing our clothes.”

“Chloe knowsallabout sneaking around when it comes to men,” Beck said.

Callum smacked him on the back of the head.

“You’re disgusting, Beck. I think our new friends come together, and he doesn’t care about who our father is. Keep your cock away from this one.”

“You can insult me later, Callum. But, if you two want to play dashing princes, you might want to get some trousers on and get your new playthings off the street.”

Forrest and Callum snapped to attention. It was hard to hide Taron, but even though they hardly had any clothes on, they tried to form a circle around us, so no one saw us as they led us through their village.

My face still stung, and I was pretty sure Chloe left a mark, but so far, this was going way better than I had hoped.
