I could have had a playmate and my blood with me if it weren’t for fucking Akul. He hadn’t just hurt Talvath and kidnapped Ripley. He took my brother and hurt him even worse.
I would have been perfectly happy to be grilled by any government official if I had been asked if it meant things were better for Hellhounds. I knew exactly what Akul would have done if he had my brother and needed to discredit me. My brother had been raised to be cruel and volatile.
And I was going to have to fight him to get to Akul, Dorian, and Ripley.
It wasn’t fair. I wanted this to be over.
“When do we move?” I asked.
“We need to figure out how to get past the gates in that neighborhood,” Talvath said.
“Oh, Ripley said there are twelve Hellhounds there, and she’d like us to try not to hurt them,” Reyson said. “I know where she is now and can get us there.”
“I can help with transportation too,” Lilith said.
“What about alarm systems?” Balthazar asked. “I don’t know about everyone else, but I don’t particularly want to fight my way through twelve Hellhounds I’m not supposed to hurt to get to Dorian and Akul. Isn’t that just going to give them time to flee back to Earth? I have questions.”
“Akul won’t have any serious alarm system. The neighborhood he lives in doesn’t allow anyone who isn’t invited through the gates, and he’s fine with using his Hellhounds as shields. Getting to Dorian and Akul before they flee to Earth will be a problem,” Talvath said.
Lilith and Reyson both broke into evil grins.
“We didn’t just check in on Ripley. We explored that entire manor. I know where their rooms are. I’ll take a team to Dorian’s room, and Lilith will take hers to Akul’s. Ripley is being held just down the hall. Felix will shift and sneak down the hall to free her. There’s a female Hellhound watching her, but she tries to help the other Hellhounds there. She won’t stop you.”
Felix didn’t even flinch and agreed to it. Female Hellhounds were bigger than the males when they were shifted and fierce fighters. I personally wouldn’t have wanted to risk going up against one unless I had to.
“When do we move?” Felix asked.
“There’s no better time than the present,” Lilith said.
Here we go.

Ripley
Iknew they were coming. Probably pretty soon. Dorian still had my phone, so I couldn’t exactly check-in. I wassuperglad I never responded to horny men who wanted nudes. If I didn’t trust someone I liked not to share that shit if they got butt hurt about something I did, I certainly didn’t trust Dorian Gray with the photo storage on my phone if it was full of nudes. Vain selfies, yes. My tits? No. I hadsomelimits.
Dorian and Akul had left me alone. I didn’t know what was going to happen first. Dorian was talking to Balthazar because Reyson didn’t have a phone. Ifanyonewas going to get Dorian Gray hot and bothered enough to come in here and give me my phone back, it was going to be my sexy vampire.
Unless he was being the picture of cooperation because they were about to storm the castle, defeat the dragon, and rescue the princess. I was on board with that, too, because this fucking cage wasn’t even remotely comfortable. I was semi-okay with my ass being in it at the moment because I was pretty sure if I wasn’t, this was some kind of punishment for the Hellhounds here. Felix got super dramatic if I had to put him in the kennel to take him to the vet.
I got it now.
I saw May visibly tense in the corner and got that same sense of malice in the room. It was either Oscar or Akul again. They felt similarly.
I had so many questions about Oscar. I knew enough about being a twin to recognize one when I saw him. I hadn’t actually spoken to Talvath, but Bram spoke highly of him. If Akul could purchase twelve Hellhounds, I was certain Talvath could have kept these twins together. If he were a decent demon like Bram always said, I would have thought he would do it.
I was missing something, and I hated that.
I’d figure that out when Oscar wasn’t leaning against the door sneering at me. I knew Bram was dangerous. I’d seen him shifted in action. I knew if he lost control, he could attack me and rip my throat out. I was never worried about that with Bram. Bram made me feel totally safe, and he snuggled like a total beast.
Ravyn and I had a lot in common. We even had the same taste in men. We also grew up together and were always inseparable. Oscar was nothing like Bram. I couldn’t imagine Bram looking at anyone the way Oscar was looking at me.
“I can’t kill you yet, but I am a little curious what it’s like to fuck a witch. There has to be a reason they didn’t invite your kind when Lilith made Hell. I’ll bet you’re too much temptation for the men who live here,” Oscar growled, rubbing his crotch.
I threw up my hands. I wasdonewith the men in this house, and I was not getting raped by a Hellhound today. They created me with all the tools I needed to defend myself against that. I called magic to my fingertips and let it crackle.
“I’d suggest you go jerk off in a cold shower and think twice about that, dude.”
