Especially since he was about to make a reappearance in my sister’s life and if she was going to dye her hair red, shedid notneed to be doing it because that serial cheater never could tell us apart, even though we made it pretty obvious if you bothered.
“I agree with Ripley on Valentine, but we need to table that for later. I think it’s safe to take a peek,” Killian said.
I conjured a gust of wind to blow all the broken glass away. The last thing we needed was all of us cut and bleeding. We all peered over the car, and the house had gone deadly silent. What were my god and my creator doing in there?
A male demon came flying out the door so hard, he crashed into the car we were hiding behind. We had to jump back because the car actually moved with the impact. Reyson appeared in the doorway, glaring at the corpse.
“That’s for almost hitting my witch with your magic and refusing to let a pregnant woman leave to deliver her baby in safety!”
A magical blast hit the house so hard, the ground shook. A crack appeared on the front stone wall, and bits of roof shingle fell to the ground. What was Lilith doing in there? Bram might be inside.
I saw Reyson’s gaze move to his left, so I followed it. Bram was coming around the back of the house with Lucifer, Samael, and several Hellhounds. Oh, thank Lilith. He hadn’t been in there when all that magic was being flung around, and the Hellhounds were safe.
Lilith stepped out of the house and brushed some ceiling plaster off her shoulder.
“Well, that was certainly uncalled for. The entire family tried to fight me. I would have spared their son, but he thought it was wise to hold a knife to a pregnant Hellhound’s throat. You’re safe now, Jena.”
A very pregnant Hellhound who looked terrified joined Lilith in the front yard. One of the other female Hellhounds took off running and gave her a passionate kiss. I didn’t know who the father of her pup was or even if she did. I didn’t know if he wanted children. But based on the way they were kissing, and her hands were caressing Jena’s belly, that little pup was going to be lucky enough to have two mommies when they were born.
One bus pulled into the cul-de-sac. I guess it was a good thing they waited because the car in front of this house was totally destroyed. I hoped it belonged to the family Lilith and Reyson killed. I knew back on Earth, some things weren’t covered by insurance because it was considered an act of god. Technically, two gods were involved in destroying this car. Would insurance even pay for that?
The people in uniform finally showed up too. They went straight to Lilith.
“I’m guessing they decided not to cooperate?”
“They had their Hellhounds locked in a greenhouse outside except for Jena. They thought they could get me to back down by threatening a pregnant woman, but it just pissed me off. How are things going?”
“There has been plenty of bitching, but no violence except for what happened here. We’re all trained in de-escalation, so we let them have their say so they don’t get violent. Some of my people had to stand there a little longer while people worked through some shit and got it off their chest, but everyone should be on the buses now.”
That was it? Akul had twelve and made so much money forcing them to the breeding farms, he started this mess. There were six of them at this house, and there was a good bit of them at Lilith’s place. The party buses were big, but there wasn’t a ton of them on the street, and I couldn’t imagine there being enough of them in Hell to transport an entire race of people. I was also sure Lilith had several nice properties, but not enough to put up that many people.
My people flocked around me. Reyson was still furious but seemed to calm down once he was near me. Bram said something to the Hellhounds before they made their way to the bus, then jogged over.
“Is this it?” I asked. “I thought they made a lot of money at the breeding farms. Shouldn’t there be more Hellhounds?”
“No, because they don’t want us to outnumber them. It costs a lot to buy a pup. They paired us up based on size, strength, and what they perceived as trainability. They think they’ve created powerful beasts but bred our nature out of us. They didn’t. They just beat us into submission. There are way fewer Hellhounds than there are demons, and that’s on purpose. That will change now.”
“Yes, it will,” Lilith said. “Now, we have a demon and a human back at my place that need dealing with and a sun to fix, so we need to get back.”
She just opened a door and ushered us thought. I was glad we were finally doingsomethingwith them, but what exactly were we doing?

Bram
I’d never wanted to kill anyone as much as recently. Who threatened a pregnant woman? That was low. That family was dead, and we were finally taking care of Dorian and Akul. Lilith didn’t say what she planned on doing with them, but she hadn’t really said much about what she had planned. She just revealed it as she went.
We stepped into the door into Lilith’s place, and we were in the room Dorian was in. He finally wasn’t a drooling mess because Reyson melted his brain. Dorian was filthy and chained to a chair. Unfortunately, he still had the nerve to be an utter turd when he saw us.
“You can’t keep me here like this. I have rights,” he spat.
Lilith just threw back her head and laughed.
“Oh, sweetie, what rights do you think humans have in Hell when they plot the murder of my creations? Honestly, the witch who got you into that deal in the first place should have had you killed for knowing about the supernatural.”
“If I had known you were going to take it this far, I would have killed you then instead of giving you that deal,” Talvath said.
“You hurt my witch. I’d be less worried about your rights and more worried about what I’m going to do to you,” Reyson growled.
