“Fuck you too!”

We weren’t getting anywhere. Akul was a belligerent little asshole who didn’t think he did anything wrong. We needed something more extreme. Like, god extreme, but Lilith just seemed to want to taunt him.

The door kicked open, and Reyson strolled in. Kaine came in shortly after. Reyson cut his eyes to Kaine.

“I thought you were watching Dorian?”

“Felix wanted ten minutes alone with him when I brought Dorian’s phone to Balthazar. I think he’s angrier about this than any of you. You might all be into Ripley, but he’s known her longer. I think Ravyn is also dying to get her hands on him, but she’s trying to help the Hellhounds right now. Let me handle this.”

That was where I needed to be right now. I needed to be with all those traumatized Hellhounds that came back with us. I wasn’t a soldier, and I wasn’t a cop. I got Lilith was playing some sort of long game here, but at the same time, what about those Hellhounds?

“I should be with them,” I said.

Reyson pulled me to his side and wrapped his arm around my waist.

“Give it ten minutes, okay?”

That seemed to set Akul off more than anything. Two guys snuggling is that pissed him off? Seriously? Then, I remember. All he thought my dick was good for was making pups for him to profit off of. Maybe I was a petty little asshole andcouldbe of use here.

I pulled Reyson into a kiss. He crushed me to his chest and his tongue tangled with mine. He could certainly kiss. He knew why I was kissing him and put on this big show. I was big, but Reyson was massive. He practically bent me backwards he was kissing me so hard. We just kept going as Akul totally lost it.

He started fighting the bonds that tied him to his chair and shrieking in rage. Akul was angrier about me kissing Reyson than he was I murdered his wife. Reyson pulled away and nipped at my earlobe.

“I have plans for you later, and so does Ripley,” he purred, setting me on my feet.

Lilith waved her hand, and Akul got this massive shock and went still.

“Hush. There’s nothing wrong with a little bisexuality. You aren’t allowed to get offended by that in my presence. Kaine? You had an idea.”

“Yes, I did.”

Kaine’s eyes turned gold, and his pupils went to slits. His skin broke out into hardened scales, and he blew smoke out of his nose. Finally, Kaine got right in Akul’s face.

“Your boy broke. He always intended to betray you. He put the sigils you gave him on a cloud server. I’m sure you thought you were going to kill him when this was over, but he had a backup plan. He spilled all kinds of details to Reyson.”

Seriously? That could be detrimental to all of Hell. Reyson knew that, but he didn’t seem worried. He knew something I didn’t. He let go of me and went to join Kaine.

“I know you were connected to Silvaria and Dorian through another demon. They summoned several before they got one who connected them to you. Who was that demon?” Reyson growled.

“Give me a minute,” Kaine said, marching out of the room.

What now? I already knew Akul wouldn’t talk. I might not be a cop, a god, or a high-level demon, but I knew that. The only thing keeping him alive was the information he had. And he was being pretty fucking arrogant like he thought someone was coming to rescue him.

Akul settled into his chair and smiled at Reyson. I hadn’t gone to some fancy demon university like he had, but I wasn’t even remotely that stupid. Reyson’s fist snapped out and connected with his nose.

“Don’t smirk at me!” he roared.

Every painting on the wall shook. Akul slumped in his chair and was knocked the fuck out. Lilith didn’t seem remotely worried, and I didn’t know why. Akul had been sitting there pretty smug while we all fired questions at him. I could have easily torn him apart. Talvath knew enough magic to kill him. Lilith made him. She could easily unmake him. He was acting like this was just an inconvenience.

“He’s been stalling this entire time,” I said. “He thinks someone is coming to save him.”

“That’s why Samael isn’t here,” Lilith said. “The destruction to Akul’s estate is pretty obvious, as are the dead bodies we left behind. He’s called a meeting of everyone in that neighborhood. My honey is a trained soldier and was created to hone in on deception. He’s also quite good at creating it, though he’d never do that with me. If Akul wasn’t working alone, Samael is finding that out now, and they won’t be breaking things in my house.”

Kaine came back in with Balthazar trailing behind him as Akul was stirring. Kaine smacked Balthazar on the back so hard, he nearly face planted right into Lilith.

“The data on the cloud is gone. I can’t believe he was dumb enough to keep it online, knowingBalthazar can hack anything. Even if it were on the cloud, I would have gone with hard copies in a safe deposit box if I was going to try to drop it like a bomb to try to blackmail two gods.”

Balthazar smirked at us. Honestly, he had every reason to go on a bragging spree right now because those sigils justcould notfall into the wrong hands.
