“Bellatrix isn’t going to like it,” Bevan said.

“We should go get drinks to celebrate. All of us,” Nicolai said.

Idid notwant to get drinks with these assholes. I wanted to get Beyla alone, and figure out why I couldn’t stop thinking about her even when I had a hot siren tied up.

“I’ve got some work I need to do back home,” Beyla said.

I could deal with that. I had an open invitation to drink at Nyx’s place, and I needed to talk to my best friend about how her rehearsals went today.

Beyla picked up her dance bag and went to walk out of the room, Merlin jogged after her.

“I didn’t get a chance to show you where the shoe room is.”

Someone should have shown her that on the first day. She would have brought several pairs of pointe shoes with her, but at the rate ballerinas went through them, she’d need new shoes before long. She wouldn’t have to go to a dance store and buy new ones, as we had an entire supply room full of them where she could grab shoes at no charge.

“I can’t believe that bitch put glass in my pointe shoes,” Beyla muttered on her way out.

Bellatrix was breaking out the glassalready? Shit was about to get real in rehearsals. I needed to find Nyx and convince her to forgive Beyla, because we needed to come up with a plan.

Chapter22

Beyla

Merlin insisted on showing me every inch of the shoe room, and he didn’t need to. I really just needed to know where it was. I could have found my shoes without his help. I had to give him credit though, he had been keeping his incubus vibes to himself and seemed to get I didn’t want to go out after rehearsal.

Arden was back at my apartment with Nyx when I got home, drinking beer and eating pizza. Even if she was pissed at me, I did like her. I was glad I had a roommate that wasn’t neurotic around food. I was still getting used to her mood swings because she totally surprised me when I walked in the door.

“Hey, girl. Hungry?”

What the fuck? She barely spoke to me in class. I left right after class because I wanted to get in the right headspace for rehearsal. If I could have lost Julian, I would have.

“Yeah, actually. Would it be horrifically offensive to both of you if I took this back to my room? I want to research this ballet we’re doing a little more.”

“No it wouldn’t… actually, please, let us help you,” Nyx begged. “Arden has been ranting about how there’s something rotten in the state of Denmark, ever since he signed that NDA in blood, and it has only gotten worse since the cast was announced.”

“So, you believe that I didn’t fuck Marsden now?”

“Girl, I believed you when you said you didn’t, but I still had to be mad you got a better part than I did for a little while. You played barre politics like a boss today.”

“What are we, in middle school? Who gives a shit where you stand at the barre?!”

“Deez bitches in the company,” Nyx grunted. “Please, let us help you. Arden is about to start a ballet conspiracy theory. There’s this podcast he loves…”

“Ballet Conspiracy Theories with Ted and Jenis the best podcast ever. Shut your face, Nyx,” Arden said, smacking her with a couch pillow.

Nyx punched him in the stomach a little harder than she needed to.

“Please do something with him.”

I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. Maybe I had a little more in common with Arden than I thought, because I fuckingadoredthat podcast. I had work I needed to do, but this was also a stressful situation. I could use their help, but I didn’t want to incite a mass panic by letting people in the company know the truth about this ballet.

“There’s a new episode on tonight,” I said. “It starts in five minutes.”

Arden held up his hand for a high five.

“IknewI liked you! You’re outvoted, Nyx. They are doing human ballets this month. Tonight isThe Firebird.I honestly wouldn’t have minded dancing that role.”

“Have they ever doneThe Sugar Skull Girl?”I asked.
