“Beatrix Halliwell was a personal friend of mine. I know plenty of dirty secrets that aren’t public knowledge. A lot of things she intended for this university have been chipped awayto cater to people who didn’t earn their way. She would haveloathedthat big fucking statue of her in the square people named after her but would have enjoyed that the moon orgies are being held there. She was a good friend of mine and absolutelywould notapprove of doing this or the changes you tried to make with the dorm assignments.”
Lindsay shifted in her seat.
“Yes, you made that quite clear when I announced it.”
I also may have threatened to do some things to her essence that she wouldn’t like. Iprobablywouldn’t, but she didn’t know that. I had no problem playing that card again if she continued this power trip.
“Then why are you doing it?” the potions professor asked. “I could see changing things that aren’t working, but everyone knows the ghosts assign the dorms for a reason, and if you’re going to tell witches and shifters they can’t have their moon orgies, it had better be a life or death reason.”
I needed to hear this, too. Now that I had some history, Lindsay tried to mess with the dorm assignments because she was a petty little asshole with a grudge against an eighteen-year-old. She would have a riot on her hands if she did this.
“I just don’t think they are inclusive, and that’s the whole point of this university. Not everyone gets invited, and even when they do, everyone seeks out the most powerful person there. People get left out. I don’t think that’s what Beatrix would have wanted.”
I fell out laughing. She was canceling the whole moon orgy because George was more fuckable than her kid? I’d process that I even had that thought later. No one got left out at moon orgies. People paired up for various reasons, but one of those was power levels. Her little crotch goblin was going to have no problem finding anyone to play with at the moon orgy, but Lindsay Krauss really needed to have a ‘come to Lilith’ talk with herself about accepting the power dynamic here.
“You’re tellingmewhat Beatrix would have wanted? Beatrix understood the power dynamics in the supernatural community and students establishing dominance in college. That’s what’ssupposedto happen at college moon orgies. It’s what will happen when they graduate and go to one.”
I hadn’t pulled the god card and put her in her place because I’d dealt with people like her before. Lindsay Krauss had a grudge and was currently on a massive power trip. Icouldhave flexed the god mojo, but I already knew how this story ended. I’d seen it before. She was eventually going to shoot herself in the face and do something she couldn’t come back from.
She’d lose her job, and we wouldn’t have to deal with her anymore. She dismissed us with no resolution on this whole moon orgy fiasco. We all told her it wasn’t going to end well.
I had a feeling she was going to cancel it, anyway.

Iadored all my classes and professors, but magical combat was probably my favorite. Azren was a fascinating history teacher, and they taught some things my dad hadn’t told me. It was fun watching all my classmates get their minds blown that most of the gods were just like them, just with cosmic powers. But magical combat? It was a challenge.
Zion Skinner still hadn’t learned my name. Most of the time, he just called methat witch. He had people switching partners every class, but he kept me with West because he said it wasn’t a fair fight to put me with anyone else. Which meant he actually noticed me, even if he hadn’t bothered learning my name.
And West? I really liked West. He made it a challenge when he realized I wasn’t a total noob. My parents had been teaching me to defend myself since I was ten, but I was sweating balls and had to concentrate pretty hard with West.
I’d never run low on magic like supernaturals, but I did get tired and required sleep and food to function. If I weren’t well rested with a decent amount of calories in me, I’d end up with a massive lion on top of me because I got distracted.
And Westtotallybogarted a move from my twin because he’d shift and end up naked right on top of me so he could ask if I was okay. Getting body tackled by a lion wouldn’t hurt me, but I got some emotional damage when one ended up naked on top of me.
I liked West. IrespectedWest because he never held back and had bested me several times. He was also hilarious and funny to be around. West was also naked and right on top of me again. He was into this, too, because every time we ended up like this, I could feel a nice sized erection poking into my belly.
“Gotcha again,” West said, giving me a goofy grin.
“Damn it. I’m exhausted and hangry. You being naked is an even bigger distraction.”
“I do look really good naked.”
“You, lion! Good job with the tackle, but I asked you to spar with the witch, not flirt with her. Do that on your own time.”
West stood up and offered me his hand.
“Eventually, he might bother learning our names. I’m out there on the dodgeball field with Oscar twice a week, signing while Zion trains him, and he still calls me lion. Ren is Oscar’s boyfriend, and helping him with drills. Zion just calls him fox.”
“Isn’t that, like, really offensive for a kitsune?”
Kitsunescouldshift into foxes, but they were more like hybrids than shifters. They could partially shift and had magic, whereas most shifters didn’t. There was a good bit of negative connotation that went along with hybrids because of past creations, so everyone just lumped them in with shifters.
I hadn’t spoken to Oscar or Ren yet, but I always saw them with West. There were wards all around the three Profane buildings to keep humans from stumbling in, so my idiot brother could walk around campus with his wings out, and Ren liked to walk around with fox ears and show off that he already had two tails.
“Ren is cool and completely devoted to Oscar. Even if he was mad about it, and he’s not, he’d never say anything to jeopardize this for Oscar.”
“Sounds like the perfect boyfriend.”
