“Dexter didn’t look like he were having fun, nor like he wanted you to take your dick out.”

“I wasn’t, and I didn’t!” Dexter yelled. “I was coming back from the moon orgy and this asshole followed me and jumped me because Kaylee told him to.”

“Kaylee is awful and I wouldn’t put it past her, but why is she interested in you?”

As one of Kaylee’s targets, that was aloteven for Kaylee. I knew why she didn’t like me, but as far as I could tell, most people here adored Dexter. The witches or the shifters had invited him to the moon orgy. I hadn’t really hung out with him, but he was pretty funny in history when Azren called on him or he wanted to ask a question.

“The ghosts put me in Vox dorm with a male roommate. Headmaster Krauss said it wasn’t acceptable. She put me in Avalan with Kaylee. Apparently, Kaylee was promised she could handpick her roommate, then I got stuck with her. I think Headmaster Krauss is hoping I’m so miserable about the roommate situation, I drop out.

“My parents were against my transition until I could pay for it myself. My grandfather has been paying for my T therapy. Kaylee keeps hiding it and telling her mom I’m going through her things when I steal it back. I was going back to my dorm to make sure she hasn’t stolen it again.”

“I can do something about that,” I said. “In the meantime, do you want to do something with him?”

Pixie magic was different from witch magic or even god magic. I would have loved to have turned him into a bug, but this wasn’t my fight. Dexter squared his shoulder and wiped the blood off his lip. He shot a ray of blue glitter directly at Todd’s crotch.

“What did you do?” Matilda asked.

Dexter just gave us this evil grin.

“He’ll figure it out later.”

“I can help with Kaylee,” I said.

“Doesn’t she hate you just as much as she hates me?”

“Probably more. After you.”

Dexter led us to his dorm room. He went straight to one of the dressers.

“She always hides them in her panty drawer. I figured it was easier to let her think I didn’t know they were there and slip one out than risk her stupid mom expelling me for taking back what was mine.”

I reached into my bag and conjured a box. I handed it to Dexter.

“It’s not a blood lock since her mom stole that spell from Minerva, but if you put a little blood on this box, only you and the people you want should be able to touch it. Anyone else will get a nice zap. You can keep your pills in there.”

“You carry freaky blood boxes with you just because?” Dexter asked.

Mags whined and nudged his hand with her nose. She wanted him to take it. I did, too. I knew he wasn’t serious. I just grinned at him.

“Call it a freaky witch thing. Get some blood on it and take a break. There’s one more thing I need to do.”

Pixies had fangs just like vampires did. Dexter pricked his finger and dripped some blood on the box. He gave a sweeping bow, and we headed to the dining hall. I was hoping my idiot brother was there. There was one thing he didn’t tolerate, and that was bullies and rapists.

Todd was sitting next to him in the dining hall and he looked worried when I marched up. Dexter went to get something to eat because he didn’t want to be around Todd. Todd had the decency to look worried. I informed my brother that his roommate was an idiot rapist. Todd immediately started running his mouth.

“No. Shut up. Who?” Michael demanded.

“Dexter. You probably don’t—”

“That green-haired pixie boy?”

Matilda and I looked at each other. How didheknow that? Dexter was a freshman and my brother tended to only bother with his inner circle. I loved my brother, but he was a snob. Matilda asked him as much. They wouldn’t have had any classes together. Or so we thought.

“They said it was pointless for me to take four years of flying classes to graduate since I’ve always had my wings. I’m a TA for freshman flying instead. Dexter is an amazing flyer. Todd?”

“Yeah?”

Oh, fuck. My brotherexploded. He jumped up and threw Todd straight into Kaylee’s table. He got up and started pounding his face in. Michael straightened and pointed at Dexter.
