“I know you take private lessons with Azren because I followed you. You were there longer than usual and you were upset earlier today. Are you okay now? Do you need a big arse hug from an energy vampire that can make you feel better in multiple ways?”

“Dude, I always want Church hugs. A kiss would make it extra better.”

“Come here, you,” Church said.

Church could only use his magic on me if I let him, but he pretty much had an open invitation because I knew he wouldn’t abuse it. He wrapped me in this massive hug and I felt my body being flooded with comforting emotions. Church didn’t give me the kiss I was expecting. He lightly kissed my lips, then the tip of my nose.

“I’m guessing none of us are a substitute for your twin and your familiar seems to like her better than you. One day, you’re going to have to tell me that story.”

I squeezed Church and went to my dorm. Even if it took longer to take off my necklace, I was going to have to tell every guy that sang me Happy Birthday without even knowing what was going on with me sooner than later.

Matilda and Mags were lounging on her bed and Mags was splootingagain.

“Your hair is messed up. Did you get into a god brawl?” Matilda asked.

“Use your nose,” Mags laughed. “Azren isallover her. Did you hate fuck a god, George? How was it?”

“Oh, damn. You’re right. I need all the gossip.”

“We didn’t fuck, but he did kiss me when I was so mad at him, we nearly started brawling.”

“And you stopped?” Mags asked. “I’ve failed as your familiar.”

“Well, he didn’t just think I might be a serial killer. He could have killed me.”

“My revenge will be epic,” Matilda growled.

I quickly explained everything that went down because my twin didn’t joke about that kind of thing. She got her magic at the usual age and learned to handle her shit without magic. She had me, of course, but sometimes, it wasmeshe was getting her revenge on. We shared most everything, but some things were off limits and if we borrowed something and damaged it, the other got revenge.

I needed to talk my twin down because if Azren thought Kaylee and Lindsay were kumquats, I didn’t know what kind of fruit my sister would be when she got her hands on them. Unlike Kaylee, Azren would never see her coming.

“So, you could technically turn into a Hellhound?” she asked.

I didn’t know if that bothered her. That had always been her thing. I didn’t always go to Hell with her. Sometimes, I’d go and stay with Lilith for lessons, but sometimes she’d go stay with her grandparents without me. I didn’t want her to think I was taking this from her.

“I guess? I don’t know how. I won’t if it bothers you.”

“Are you kidding? Being a Hellhound is fucking amazing. Everyone should experience it at least once. You can come running with Mags and me now. If you’re going to figure out how to mimic supernaturals, you’d better pick me first. We shared a womb. You’re legally required to.”

I got up and dove into the cuddle pile on my sister’s bed. They both pulled me into a hug. My sister had always acted like our differences didn’t matter, but there was always a part of me that thought it would change when I took my necklace off and people started treating us differently. Clearly not, if she wanted me to share this with her.

“You need to call Mom and tell her that you figured out your god mojo. Reyson is going to lose it and then he’s going to call Loki to brag about it. Loki is going to be figuring out how you can abuse it.”

Yeah, I did. We called every night, and it was past the time we usually called. It was a tight fit in Matilda’s bed with the three of us, but I did a video call with my mom. My siblings weren’t around, but my mom was waiting with all my dads.

“We were up planning the menu for the dodgeball match coming up, but we figured the both of you had met someone and weren’t going to call.”

“Matilda has gone through several someones and I’ve met some I like that I wouldn’t mind sticking around. Azren figured out what my magic is supposed to be,” I said, filling them in.

“Really?” Dad asked. “That was fast, but they are a genius and my kid is amazing. It’s not shocking, either. Your magic would have been related to mine somehow. I can’t think of anything more delicious and chaotic than my kid being able to mimic any supernatural or god that comes at her. If you’re worried about it, don’t be. Most of the other gods are cowards who don’t like starting things unless they know they can finish them. And after Baldur, they all learned finishing things is a lot more extensive than they originally thought. They’d have to figure out how to take out two primordials, Lilith, and Loki is a cockroach you can’t kill. No one will bother you.”

“You should have told me I can die,” I said.

“The chances of that are pretty small. We have one weakness and most of us don’t even know ours. I still haven’t figured mine out because I haven’t bothered looking. It’s considered really taboo to go looking into that kind of thing. If someone finds out, they reach out to Azren for god time out. Some of them have been in jars in their realm for thousands of years. No one will mess with you, precious. Go be fabulous.”

“You’re my kid, too,” Mom said. “No one is allowed to fuck with any of my kids. I’m not a god, but I’m the librarian of a massive sentient library full of dangerous books. I can figure out how to fuck someone up. That goes for both of you. Are Kaylee and Lindsay still being stupid? I can’t believe she thought she could police a moon orgy. Who does she think she is?”

“I’ve been turning her hair into snakes. Apparently, all those witch hexes you taught me are paying off because when I’m around witches, I can do witchcraft.”
