“Couldn’t he feel it? If he killed my parents to get his arrow back, wouldn’t he know they didn’t have it? He didn’t murder them just because my mom took it, or he wouldn’t have left it under the floorboards of my dorm room.”

That was the part that was bugging me. This arrow was important, and I was pretty sure Drake’s parents died over it. His mother left an amazing opportunity at the Academy of the Profane because she saw the god who fired it and stole his arrow. She had no way of knowing what was lurking in this arrow, but she didn’t want to take it with her when she left. Maybe she had plans for it when she thought she was safe and found someone who could do something with it, but she didn’t get the chance.

“In theory, the two essences should be drawn to each other. When people were making magical books, the intention was to sell them for a lot of money, but they found they couldn’t part with them when it came time to turn them over to a buyer. They became status symbols to show off when their rich friends came over.

“The material this arrow is made of is unusual. The essence inside should be reacting and it should either be trying to stab us or fly home. It’s not, which makes me think something about this material is doing something that’s blocking him from sensing his own essence. I can feel it because that’s my domain. If it’s important, I’m going to figure out why and make sure he can’t get his hands on it,” I said, waving my hand and disappearing it to my safe back on the Netherworld. “You should all get to bed or you’re going to fall asleep in my class. Just because I like all of you doesn’t mean I won’t give you a little love zap to wake you up.”

George slinked over and wrapped her arms around me. We hadn’t been affectionate with each other around other gods, even though Freya had easily figured it out.

“I told my mom about us. They already knew and they are all happy for us.”

“No shit? Even your dad?”

I could predict how the God of Chaos would react as easily as I could Loki. Which was not at all.

“He’s happy about it because he thinks you’re good for me and I’m good for you.”

“That’s because you are,” I said, kissing her nose.

My girlfriend gave me this look, and I already knew it meant she was up to something. She never had it in my class because she was an excellent student, but when she had that face matched to her twin sister, it meant some shit was about to go down.

“So, the headmaster knows about us and he’s not going to fire you. I know we can’t be obvious in public, but you know I can get back to my dorm without being seen. Can I stay with you tonight?”

I groaned. How was I supposed to say no to that? Because she was right. If Gabriel was headmaster now and he was okay with this, there was nothing stopping us. The only person who had any reason to come to my cabin was Gabriel. The rest of the professors here valued their private time, and they weren’t going to encroach on me when I was at home. The only reason Gabriel would was because he knew the true reason I was here.

“I’ll bet it’s hot as fuck when the two of you get together,” West whined.

I cocked an eyebrow at West.

“Are you sure you’re straight?”

“You can totally get turned on by your sexy as fuck god friends fucking your girl as long as the swords don’t cross.”

Ren rolled his eyes.

“He also says kissing men is totally straight as long as he doesn’t use tongue.”

“I’m a lion shifter. Don’t be racist. We do that.”

They actually didn’t. I was there when they were made and hung out with them for a long time. They didn’t kiss anyone on the mouth unless they were family or into them that way. I wasn’t going to say a damned thing because I really liked West just the way he was.

“Get the fuck out of here,” I growled. “She’sminefor the night.”

. . .

Iknew Odin and Loki had their problems and Loki still ranted about him sometimes. He scared me at first when I was little, but then he started telling us stories and I decided he was kind of cool. I knew he was here for Baldur, but it was nice having him around. Baldur was ready for bed. It wasn’t really safe for everyone to walk back and he justgotthat I was trying to have filthy sex with the God of Death. Odin offered to portal everyone home while Azren and I went to their place.

I wasn’t quite done. I may or may not have had a fantasy. So, when Drake went to touch Odin to leave, I snagged his sleeve.

“Oh, no you don’t, sir. I have an idea unless you think it would be weird.”

Drake just shrugged.

“I’m down. I don’t think it would be weird, but I’m not bisexual so kinda like West. No sword crossing.”

“It wouldn’t be any weirder than that time in ancient Babylonia with the incubus and the bees,” Azren said.
