“The rest of the video encourages violence, looting, and mayhem, so we’ve chosen not to show it. That’s exactly what a politicianshouldn’tbe doing. We only opted to show the video we were sent because we wanted to reiterate how dangerous these individuals are. Several innocent prison guards died and the entire prison could have been out on the street. No matter how you feel about the situation, that’s never justified. If you see any of these individuals, do not approach. Call for help.”
Well, fuck. I could see where angels wouldn’t understand mortals’ psyche, but Hannibal and Saul had to know how that was going to play. They looked deranged. I mean, yeah, there were going to be folks who agreed with them and justified the prison break, but they were going to be a small minority. I was guessing they lost some supporters with the sex trafficking and a few with the prison break.
But I knew how to lose a good bit of them and it had everything to do with meeting Michael.
“Benji, I want to do a video on your social media.”
Benji’s face lit up. He was constantly trying to rope Pax and me into his thirst traps. Pax would do it if he was in the right mood, but I was never really into flexing my pecs or shaking my ass for the internet. The only people I wanted to do that for were the people I loved.
Benji knew I wanted to use his platform for social justice and I knew what he required for that so I just braced myself.
“Let’s get back to Dionysus’s place. It’s quieter and I don’t feel like taking my shirt off in this bar. There’s a group ofvampires and succubae over there who keep eyeing me, even though they can sense my pack is complete.”
“Mine,”Medusa growled.
Ugh. That went straight to my dick like when she was wearing my hoodies.
“It would be hot to watch you throw down with them, little monster,” Benji purred.
“Maybe later,” Pax said. “We need to do damage control and Cas clearly has an idea.”
Yeah, I did. The angels left and didn’t really spare a thought for their prisoners. They didn’t know Michael came to us and gave us all that angel intel. Humans didn’t need to know about the civil war or that a god was missing.
But there was one particular fact I’d learned about the angels that could change a lot of minds and I intended to get it out there.
Cas’s ideas were always solid. He’d come up with this one on the fly and wasn’t saying much about it, but I trusted my mates implicitly. We honestly should have planned for Saul wanting to make a statement after they were broken out of jail. Their message was really only going to play well with a certain type of crowd.
It was the kind of people who called the Coalition on Benji and his family when they hadn’t done anything wrong except being born a certain way. They didn’t want to find common ground with anyone because they were too focused on theother.I had a feeling the rest of their message involved hurting anyone they suspected of being supernatural and trashing their homes and businesses.
We were back at Dionysus’s place setting up. Benji refused to do anything until he poofed back home for his fez. He said if people saw him without it, they wouldn’t know the message was important. He still took his shirt off and made Cas take his off, too. Cas griped about it, but he knew if he wanted to use Benji’s platform, he needed to play by his rules. I curled up and snuggled with Pax.
“Do you know what he’s up to?” I asked.
“Cas notices tiny details and he’s really good with puzzles and word games. He picked up something from Michael and Lucifer that’s going to destroy their credibility. At least with the folks who aren’t looking for any reason to get violent.”
“I like spoilers and Dionysus refuses to give them to me.”
“Cas is the same way. He’s kind of like Dionysus with the whole god thing about this shit. Be patient,” Pax said, kissing me on the top of the head.
Cas was conspiring with Melina in the corner. Yeah, he was definitely milking this like Dionysus would. I didn’t really peg him like that, but I loved it. He wanted to blow our minds, too, and it was adorable. Cas got what he needed from Melina and told Benji to give her his phone for a minute. Benji didn’t even question it.
Finally, Benji and Cas sat in front of Benji’s set up. Benji spoke first because this was technically his feed.
“Okay, fam, we’re going to address the elephant in the room. Angels are supernatural creatures just like the ones they’ve told you are evil, but my mate Cas is going to address theotherelephant in the room. Cas?”
Yeah, because literally none of us knew which elephant Cas was going to be dealing with.
“So, I’d like to address what went down at the prison and the assertion that it had to happen like that. There are a few supernatural creatures that can disappear and appear in placesat will. I’m mated to three of them. What the rest of you don’t know is thatangelscan do that, too.”
Oh, fuck. I knew what Cas was doing and I can’t believe none of us had put that together.
“The angels had been portalling to the rooftop of Coalition headquarters to deliver vials of their tears to use at their facilities. Now, I realize people are saying alotof shit and only a few of them are actually backing it up with proof, so I’m bringing you proof. I’ve got footage from the security cameras of the roof of Coalition headquarters.
“I’ll play it and you’ll see angels appearing, making the drop, and then disappearing. Human prisons are not only not warded against supernaturals, but most of them have a chapel. If this wasjustabout breaking Hannibal and Saul out, they could have just appeared in their cells and disappeared with them.
“There wasnoneed to storm the prison, destroy it, kill several innocent guards, and let all those prisoners out. The furies themselves were the ones that sensed Saul and Hannibal were trafficking women. That’s what they are built for. Even if thiswasabout innocent men in jail, which it’s not, theycouldhave gotten them out without the carnage and chose not to.”
There was one thing I knew about Melina. She wasinsanelythorough. All of her incriminating evidence was sorted, categorized, and easy to find. When Cas asked for footage of the roof, she would have already compiled it into a montage just in case she or anyone else would need it.
