“I don’t give a shit about words, and I hate those corporate events.”

“You should,” he insisted. “A woman like you is pure class.”

“I flipped a pervert off this week and today I stole shitty wine from a crappy date,” I reminded him. “I think I drank a bottle by myself trying to make that date fun. That isn’t classy, Liam.”

“Classy is a mindset and both of those guys were asses. They deserved it,” Liam countered. He reached out wrapping a lock of my hair around his finger and tugged on it. “You deserve more than I can give, Mel.”

“Maybe let me worry about what I do and don’t deserve, huh?” This time it was me who reached out and cupped his face, first with one hand and then the other. “I don’t need pretty words.” I kissed him. This kiss was soft and gentle but quickly followed by another after I said, “I don’t need a man that can fit in at a stuffy event.” I kissed him again, “I need a man that makes me feel alive.” I whispered kissing him again and again, the last time it was lingering, and I swiped my tongue along his bottom lip.

He drew in a shuddering breath and leaned his forehead against mine. “And I make you feel alive?” he asked.

I huffed out a laugh and nodded, looking into his eyes as I spoke. “You do. I haven’t felt this way in a very long time, Liam.” I moved, my hands sliding up and into his hair and carded my fingers there. “I don’t need any of those things you said, just you.”

“Pure class,” he said, eyes scanning my face once more before he leaned into me and claimed my mouth in a hungry kiss. The passion of it stole my breath and had me yanking on his hair, giving as good as I got. Liam’s arm left the sofa and he wrapped it around me, tugging me close. His other hand went to my hip and he yanked me up and onto his lap, each of my legs going to either side of his thighs as he settled me against him. I drank up every touch and inch of flesh pressed close. There was a tenderness here, a delicate energy that wove itself between our mouths and hands, that urged us to keep kissing, tasting, and touching each other. The gentleness that I had guessed at in Liam was here and now. He was kissing me and touching me as gently as a woman could ever want or hope for. I felt precious. Funny how all of that made me crave something a little less than gentle, from a man willing to give it to her.

“Liam,” I whispered, wrapping both arms around his neck. His hands were on my hips, fingers digging into the silk of my borrowed dress. I felt it rise, the fabric of it sliding up the length of my hips. His fingers moved lower and dug into my ass, and just like that the energy between us shifted.

The sweet and gentle grew and heated until it was a raging inferno. I wanted more of it. Wanted to be confused by it until it took over us, took over me, and made us into something new.

“You’re the sun,” he rasped out against my lips, his warm hands cupping my ass.

I pulled back long enough to look at him, hands braced on his shoulders and shook my head, my hair falling into my face.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I do,” he told me, squeezing my ass before he kissed me again. I opened my mouth to him and moaned when his tongue met mine. There was more in this kiss than I had gotten from anyone before, the need, hunger, the want that I felt in it was dizzying. Even when I had thought myself in love and given the best of what I had to someone, they had never made me feel like this. Not even Martin compared to this.

“The sun,” he whispered again and then I was on my back, the couch beneath me and Liam above me, his lips moving over my jaw and down my neck. The straps of my dress were slipping, being tugged lower. He kissed the swell of my breast, the top of my dress suddenly undone, the fabric of it loose and around my waist. I’d forgone a bra because it just ‘didn’t go with the dress’ as Claudia had said. I was glad for it. One less item to remove, one less thing between my body and Liam’s.

His head bent and kissed the underside of my breast, his tongue dragging across my skin until he took one of my nipples into his mouth. He circled the nipple, mouth sucking gently. He kissed the now beaded flesh, making me gasp, both hands going to the back of his head.

“Liam,” I groaned, back arching and pressing more of my flesh into his mouth. “Yes!”

He palmed my other breast with his hand, and I put mine on top of his, guiding his touch. Squeezing his hand tighter to me. I wrapped my legs around him and felt a satisfied hum go through my body when I felt the hard length of his cock against my hip. We continued on like this, Liam's hands eager on me, mouth kissing and licking my breasts, both given equal attention. I reached for his belt when I had endured quite enough.

I wanted him and I wanted him now.

But at the first brush of my fingers against his belt buckle he reached down, stopping me, his hand wrapping around mine.

“What?” I asked when he didn’t move my hand closer.

“Not like this,” he said, shaking his head as if trying to wake himself from a dream. He blinked down at me. “Not like this,” he said again. Then he moved, pushing away from me and sitting up. I stared up at him, laying half undressed, and frowned.

“What gives?” I asked.

“Mel...babe, not like this.”

“But I want it like this,” I said, gesturing down the length of my body before pointing at him. “I want you like this. You’re still fully dressed, which I got to tell you is a bummer.”

He smiled down at me and then reached out, fingers taking hold of the straps and pulling them higher up on my shoulders, covering my breasts against.

“You deserve better than on your couch after you drank shitty wine all night, and all I brought you was a pizza.”

I crossed my arms and glared at him when he moved out from in between my legs, pulling my skirt down. “I liked the pizza. I like you more.”

“I appreciate it. Like you more than that pizza too,” he shot back, making my glare melt into a smile at his words.

I sat up and sighed, pushing back my hair before giving him an assessing look. “So if not now, then when? I thought we were doing something stupid. This just seems more smart than stupid.”
