I laughed and let him pull me into his side. “So this production, tell me when and where and I’m there.”

“Next weekend. Saturday at 7pm. I’ll pick you up.I’m looking forward to having you ride in front with me.”

“Yeah, okay.” I kissed him and wrapped an arm around his waist. “I’m excited about our date.”

He tugged on my hair gently. “It’ll be a big night,” he told me, and I began to nod but then pushed away from him with a jerk.

“Wait a minute...this--I mean yes, it’s going to be a big night but not because of the date.”

“Oh?”

I shook my head quickly and grabbed his hands, pushing myself up onto my knees so that we were facing each other. “No, you’re taking me to meet your sister. I mean...that’s big. Your sister, Liam.” And it wasn’t just his sister, it was his only family. The person he loved the most in all the world. I was floored he wanted to share that with me.

He gave me a crooked smile. “Yeah, my sister. She’s excited to meet you.”

“You told her about me?” I was unable to keep the shock out of my voice. He’d told his sister about me.

That meant something.

“Of course, I did. You’re my girl, right?”

That meant everything.

“Right.” I reached out, cupping his cheek, my thumb swiping over his skin tenderly. “I’m your girl. You’re my guy.”

“And I’m taking you on a date.”

“A date to meet your sister,” I pointed out.

He reached up, catching my hand and brought it to his mouth. “Right, which is big. Never done that before. She’s already going through about a dozen places we can go to dinner after, because she wants it to be perfect. She wants you to like her.”

My heart warmed hearing that. I should have expected something like that of Liam’s sister. The man was gruff, fought for cash and he could swear, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t gentle, tender hearted, with a soft touch. That kind of rubbed off on a person when they raised them, so I expected his sister was just the same.

“I already do, besides, I should be the one worried. She’s meeting her brother’s girlfriend for the first time. And she is the lead in a production. I think I have to be the one trying to impress here. Does she like chocolate? What kind of flowers might she want?” I asked, making a mental note to add to my shopping list.

“You don’t have to get her a gift.”

I pulled a face. “She’s the lead ballerina. Leads get gifts. So yes, yes, I do have to get her a gift. I will not be outdone by random admirers, Liam. I will not. So I’m going to need that flower information from you, or else.”

“Oh god, you’re a little monster.”

“You haven't even begun to see me be a monster.” I whipped out my phone and selected my note taking app, “Spill the beans, babe. What kind of flowers and chocolates does she like?”

“You don’t have to get her anything,” he insisted.

“That’s a lie from the pit of hell. I do, I do, I do. Now, first things first, tell meeverything.”

He sighed, eyes turning skyward. “You’re just as bad as her. Now I have two of you.” He fell backwards onto the grass and stared up at the sky with an arm flung over his eyes, but I was not deterred. I crawled towards him, throwing myself over his chest with my phone still in hand.

“Tell me what I want to know, and no one gets hurt.”

“Jesus, Princess.”

I poked him in his side. “That’s not the name of a flower, or a chocolate. Try again,” I said, insisting that he give me what I want. I didn’t get to keep pressing him, because his arms came up pulling me towards him and rolled us over onto my back. A laugh burst out of me when I felt Liam’s fingers come to my sides to tickle me.

“That’s not fair!” I cried, but Liam didn’t listen. He just kept on tickling me. That was how we spent the rest of the afternoon. With laughter, soft touches and a whole lot of food. I could get the sister information later. I had all the time in the world.
