“The XIA will investigate if she has any memory of the event.”Amy nodded.

Krys smiled.“I just hope that someone found her dwarf medic alert bracelet.”

Amy paused.“What?”

“A dwarf medic alert bracelet. She’s been in a coma because the medication has been keeping her under. Now that it was analyzed and understood, she’s up and on the way to recovery.”She squeezed Reynal’s hand.

He squeezed her hand back with a smile.

Amy looked between the two of them.“Wait.Am I butting in on a first date?”

Krys smiled.“Yup.”

“Oh, geez.Okay, I will scuttle back to my table.I think they have decided how many ice cubes I am worth or something.Talk with you later?”

“We can grab lunch on Friday after the ball.”

“Oh, I get to see Emmers in a tux.”Amy grinned. She came over and hugged Krys.

“Fine, but don’t go to his place on prom night.Save that for after Neekil and Hannah’s wedding.”

Amy grinned.“I still want to walk through the space and get a feel for what we can do for different zones.”

“Not a problem.I can do that.”Krys smiled.“I can make an air column that is a few inches above the ground, and it will keep any of the frosty folk nice and cool.”

“That sounds good. Why not all the way to the ground?”

“Slip and falls.”

“Oh.Shit.Right.”

Reynal chuckled, leaned over, and kissed Krys. She gave him her full attention.

He lifted his head.“Sundays are days off from the post-check of the venue until you head to bed.”

Amy had returned to her table with a blush to her cheeks.

She looked into his dark eyes and blinked.“Right.”

Their food arrived, and she looked at her club sandwich with fries.

He chuckled.“I did not think you were the sandwich type.”

“I am just happy that this isn’t under a plastic wrapper.”She dunked two fries in the small container of ketchup and then pulled the sandwich in close.

He sliced his steak and grinned.“I am rather curious as to what happens next.”

She snorted and picked up the wedge of three layers of sandwich and opened her mouth wide before her bite sliced downward. She smiled and chewed, mumbling, “Mom never lets me eat white bread, so this is the maximum white bread you can get in a sandwich.”

Reynal grinned, brought her hand to his lips, and then continued his meal with neat, economical bites.

She destroyed her sandwich and collected the fries to face their doom.A soft touch on her cheek got her to turn, and he gave her a small bite of steak. She chewed slowly.

He nodded.“You know what I noticed?”

“What?”

“The cut and preparation of the food last night was better.”
