I quickly dry off and pull on a white gown he left for me. It’s form-fitting and there is no bra or underwear in sight.

My heart skips a beat thinking I'm fixing to give my blood to three dark fae. Am I doing the right thing? Or am I the sacrificial lamb about to walk to my death?

All the stories of fae I vaguely remember from my mom telling me at night before bed never ended happily ever after.

How humans would crave their fae lover so much they withered away pinning for them. It never made sense when I was a kid. But now that Thorne screwed my brains out, I want him again and again.

My stomach knots thinking this might be the start of an addiction that I can't escape.

CHAPTER12

REIS

"You think she could really be the queen's descendent?" Kaden asks, staring after where Annalise and Thorne left.

"Yeah, I do." I rub the back of my neck, wishing I'd been the one to take her to the bath. And jealousy spiked in my chest. "The late queen has been gone fifty years, so it fits that she could be her granddaughter."

Fae didn't live long lives without returning to our realm periodically. It was like once a fae moved to the human world, they were doomed. The fact our pregnant queen had to flee for her life still left a hole in my heart.

We failed her. The usurper was stronger and imprisoned us all. If Reyshiik hadn't been pregnant, she would have had the strength to end her uprising. But using that much power would have caused her to miscarry.

"You look like shit," I say, pulling out another pitcher of ale. "Get changed, we can't afford to botch the ritual with your blood tainting the circle."

Kaden snatches the pitcher from me, throwing his shoulder into mine as he marches past. "I'll need this to occupy my time while the bath is being used."

So, he is as envious as me regarding Annalise. We don't share lovers, but ultimately, it is her choice. Especially if she does have royal blood. It's expected for the ruling family to have multiple lovers to ensure there is succession for the throne. Reyshiik had five lovers and two human ones as well.

I open the cupboard and pull out the crystals, candles, athame, and gold chalice for the ritual. My thoughts drift to Annalise. She is a vision of beauty and strength with a long mane of wild, brown hair that flows past her shoulders and deep blue-gray eyes that sparkle with inner strength and intelligence. Even her lush body with ripe curves, the sway of her hips, and her long legs has my cock hardening with the thought of them wrapped around my hips as I drive into her.

I have different methods of pleasing a woman, but I can tell Annalise wouldn't be happy with just one lover, and that thrills me to my core. Watching her be pleased by Kaden or Thorne makes my mouth water. I'd never had a female enjoy that and I hope that Annalise is the exception.

She's a survivor, getting over Thorne choking her, Kaden's betrayal of sending her into the forest at night, and the sluagh. There's an undeniable strength inside her and a gentle spirit that strikes me every time she smiles my way. She's willing to accept our help as well. If she is indeed of the fae royal bloodline, I know she'll be the perfect queen one day.

Quickly, I prepare stew for us all, but leave out the spicy meat from the lunix I killed yesterday. It might be too gamey for Annalise and her human tastes.

Kaden enters the kitchen with his hair combed back and the blood cleaned up from his face and body as best he can do without agreeing to a healing. His eye is nearly swollen shut, the cut on his lip is dried, and dark bruises are forming up and down his body and face. There's a lump near his broken horn making it look the same size as the other except for the shorn tip.

He's wearing beige trousers and adjusts himself. "You sure this is going to work?"

I shrug, but hope burns bright in my chest. "We'll find out if she's royal fae blood and if she is—"

"Her blood will break the curse." He nods. "I haven't been in my human form for half a century. Don't even remember what I looked like."

"You look like a prick."

He flicks me off and swigs more of the ale. "Still got your sense of humor."

"Take it easy with liquor." An icy finger trails down my spine. "We need to be prepared for anything." The three of us will have to be vigilant and look out for her safety at all times. We can't let Reyshiik's legacy be erased, no matter what the cost.

Kaden scowls. "What; you think all our problems will be solved with this little blood ritual? Nay. If she gets her father, she'll leave us the first chance she gets." He sits down in a chair, kicking his leg up on the table. "Can't say I blame the lass. I wouldn't want to stay in this shithole either with a queen like ours."

"Morrigan isn't the rightful queen." I slap my hand on the table. "Stop giving in and pretending she is. Annalise and her father are the rightful heirs."

"Keep telling yourself that." He shakes his head, then winces. "Not even a dozen pictures of ale will dull my senses."

"We can't take that chance." I gather the ritual supplies. "Make yourself useful and grab the candles."

In the living room, I spread out the crystals and candles until they form a perfect nine-foot circle.
