"Just a drop." Reis bows his head slightly, his horns casting a shadow over me.

"I'm not selling my soul," I add in case they have any ideas about tricking me because I still don’t trust that these monsters aren’t demons or worse.

Thorne shakes his head and laughs, the sound is like thunder booming. I clench my hands at my sides to keep them from shaking and meet their stare. I won’t let on how much they intimidate me because something tells me they’d get off on that.

"Your soul is yours to keep." Reis stares at me without blinking for a long moment.

I nod slowly, my throat going dry.

"What's your name, human?" he asks.

"Annalise," I say before I think better of it. What if the demons can do some spell on me with my real name? Or is that only in fae stories?

"Call me, Kaden," the third demon cracks his knuckles like he's getting ready for a fight.

I sit on the trunk, curling in on myself. Hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone isn't it?

Their gazes lock on me, heavy and expectant. I wrap the dark cloak around me tighter. All I want is to find my dad and get back home so much so that I'm almost willing to sell a fraction of my soul.

“We will do the ritual after you’ve eaten and bathed.” Reis nods. “Make yourself comfortable in our home in the meantime.”

"Demons have a house?" But then the fact these monsters could rip me apart in a single go, has me clamping my mouth shut. I had just assumed this place belonged to whoever they killed before me.

Thorne bellows and I flinch. "Never met a demon before. Are they fun to eat?"

"Y-you're not demons?" Monsters then.

Reis gives Thorne a look and the broken-horn monster shrugs.

"We protect this realm, not hell."

"From what?" I rub my freezing hands together, trying to get warm.

All three of them hesitate to answer, which makes my stomach knot up. What could be worse than three seven-foot beasts?

Reis’s eyes glow a deep burgundy color as if amused and his gaze dips down to my breasts and then back up.

"The trade was for blood only." I meet his hungry gaze, but warmth sinks low into my belly.

"Come now." Reis's smile widens. "We all know you are no virgin maiden."

How the fuck does he know that? My heart beats faster and my face heats like it's on fire. "H-how dare you." I stand up, heat filling my face. Realizing I’m a step from the bed, I move quickly to the other side of the room by the door.

"We can smell you, Annalise," Kaden says, filling me in and a trickle of liquid heat dives into my belly and I press my thighs together.

My throat tightens and I swallow, the pain hitting me a reminder of Thorne choking me.

"You must trust me if this is going to work." Reis holds his hand out and I stare at it like it’s a poisonous snake.

Except what choice do I have? I’ve no way of figuring out how to find my father on my own and get back home.

Suddenly, I feel like I’m making a deal with the devil. No, not just one devil, but three.

CHAPTER4

KADEN

I’m fucking livid as I pace inside the kitchen and curse. Reis brought a fucking human into our home, and I cannot believe he would ever do such a thing; not when he knows the risks of outsiders being in our world.
