“I do,” I said.
“Save it for Elvis.”
I laughed and so did he. “Looks like you forgot earrings,” he said, pushing my hair over my shoulder to see my naked ears.
“I did.”
“Well, it’s a good thing your future husband comes prepared.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a jewelry box.
“Sir,” I teased in a flirtatious, over-done Southern belle drawl. “You are spoiling me.”
“That’s the hope.”
I took the jewelry box and opened it, revealing diamond stud earrings at least two carats in size. I sighed. “You’re too good at this,” I stated, as I put them in my ears.
He took my hand and said, “Ready?”
“Ready.”
Chapter 34
“Feel any different?” Flynn asked later when we were in bed.
“Very,” I said, gazing down at my newly adorned ring finger.
“Really?”
I nodded. “Doesn’t feel real. We just started dating. If you could even call it that. And now we’re married.”
“Hmmm,” he murmured. His lips grazed my collarbone and I gripped his hair, enjoying him and the pleasant sensations he created.
“Flynn,” I murmured. “What are we going to do about the FBI?”
His hand wandered down my body, urging my legs to part. He teased me with his fingers while his tongue invaded my mouth, battling with mine. I knew if I let him overwhelm me and make me forget, it would be hard to come back to myself.
“Please,” I whispered against him. “I need some reassurance.”
“I’m trying to give it to you.”
“No. You’re trying to distract me.”
He sighed and his fingers stopped their love play. Flynn got up off me, and though his face reflected his frustration at being thwarted, he took a deep breath and didn’t lose his patience. “You said Winters was going to get in contact with you in a few days. He threatened you, said that you needed to give him information that would lead to my take down. So that’s what we’re going to do.”
“Give him information that could hurt you? I won’t do it, I’ll—”
He silenced me with a kiss before pulling back. “Do you really think I’d let that happen?”
“I’m usually pretty smart, but I’m not getting this.”
He cupped my cheek and smiled at me with tenderness. “You’ll be giving him information, but it will be false.”
“False,” I repeated.
“With just enough truth so he doesn’t suspect anything, giving me time to finish the rest of the plan.”
“And what plan is that?” I asked.
“That’s enough for now.”
