“Join us for dinner,” Duncan commanded. It was directed at Ash.

Ash smiled and I swore I could see Duncan’s eyes dilate. “Love to.”

I looked to Flynn and he nodded, gesturing for me to take a seat. He slid in next to me, coming close. After we ordered drinks, Ash asked Duncan, “What are you doing in the States? Here for a visit?”

“Business,” Duncan answered vaguely. “And to catch up with this lad.” He tossed a smile in Flynn’s direction.

“Have you ever been to New York before?” Ash went on.

“I have not.”

“Need a tour guide?” She flashed a flirty smile at him.

“Do you even think they know we’re here?” I whispered at Flynn.

“No.”

Duncan and Ash were laughing and teasing one another, and I highly doubted I would get a night out with my best friend. It seemed she was ready to move on from her disastrous broken engagement.

“This means you’re stuck talking to me,” I said to Flynn.

“Oh, I wonder how I’ll ever get over it.” He grinned. “There’s a certain pleasure knowing we get to spend the night in bed together.”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep,” I warned.

Flynn looked across the table at Duncan who was leaning close enough to Ash so her blond waves touched his face.

“Come on,” he said, scooting out of the booth.

“We can’t ditch them.”

“Duncan, we’re leaving you and Ash alone.”

Ash and Duncan went on talking—they hadn’t even heard Flynn. Flynn looked at me and raised an eyebrow.

I nodded. “Okay, let’s ditch ’em.”

Chapter 36

I collapsed on the bed, breathing hard. My skin was flushed and slick, and I briefly closed my eyes.

“You alive?”

I heard the amusement in Flynn’s voice.

“Barely. You?” I replied.

“Barely.”

I chuckled, feminine power surging through me. “Are you going to tell me why Duncan’s here?”

“You wouldn’t buy the excuse of a family visit, would you?”

“No.” I turned my head so I could look into my husband’s eyes.

“He’s a tracker,” Flynn explained slowly. “For the SINS.”

“A tracker?”
