“Single sexual experience,” I repeated. “Does that include all-nighters?”

Another dancer snorted. “All-nighters? I’ve never met a man that can go more than once.”

“To be fair, I can’t go more than once. I fall asleep as soon as it’s over,” Chelsea admitted.

Alia kept her gaze on me. “One experience.”

“Ohhh, I see what you’re asking. You’re wanting to know if I have multiple orgasms.”

“No, that’s not what I meant. Like foreplay to the deed. How many?”

“One.”

“One?” Alia asked like she didn’t understand. “Were they doing it right?”

We busted out laughing. We were drunk and high on sugar, and I doubted we’d sleep until dawn. Not that I cared, because tonight I was going to do some amateur sleuthing.

“Okay, new game,” I said. “‘Never Have I Ever.’”

“I love that game!” Renee exclaimed. She was another cocktail waitress and the only one of us who was married with a kid.

The questions started off with a bang. Never have I ever kissed another woman. Never have I ever had a threesome. When question time came around to me I said, “Never have I ever smoked weed.”

A few people drank.

The questions went around again and then came back to me. “Never have I ever skinny-dipped.”

“You haven’t?” Shawna asked. “You’re a total prude.”

“Why? Because I haven’t swam naked? Maybe I’ve never dated anyone that made me want to do that.”

“That’s just sad,” Renee said with a shake of her head.

“Okay,” I grumbled. “I’m bored with this game. Let’s do something else.”

“Like what?” Alia asked.

I scrambled up from my seat. “Who’s got a good music selection?”

“I do!” Shawna volunteered, whipping out her phone. She scrolled through her playlists and then looked at me in triumph. “How about my eighties mix?”

“Perfect!”

She synced her phone to the sound system, and before I knew it, we were having a full-out dance party. We danced until we were sweaty, and then we collapsed onto the floor and couch. The closers of the club finally joined us, but they trudged in looking weary and exhausted.

I wasn’t good for much longer.

“Now that we’re all here,” Alia said. “I can share the gossip.”

“Gossip?” Renee perked up.

When Alia was sure she had twelve pairs of eyes on her, she revealed, “Mr. Campbell broke up with his girlfriend.”

There was a smattering of conversation and surprise. “How do you know?” Shawna asked.

“Jake saw them going at it the other night. He said Mr. Campbell looked really angry that Lana showed up.” Alia’s gaze found mine. “What did you see? You were working his section that night.”

Everyone looked at me, waiting for me to speak. “I didn’t see much more than Jake—they argued and then she left.”
