“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Nowhere.” I pulled back the covers so I could look at his amazing, impeccable legs. I leaned over and gently bit his thigh.
“Do you wear kilts?” I blurted out.
Flynn cocked his head to one side. “What, do you mean to my business meetings?”
I looked away but couldn’t hide my smile. “What will it take to get you into a kilt?”
“Ah, a woman with kilt fantasies, aye?”
His brogue had thickened, and it was completely sexy. “Damn right I’ve got fantasies. Do you know your brogue gets thicker when…”
“When?”
I smiled and finally turned my eyes back to his. “When you’re inside me, whispering things in my ear.” I watched him still. He was beautiful, like a wild animal I’d never get close to.
“What do I say—when I’m inside you?” he asked.
My cheeks flamed. “You want me to repeat the words?”
“Aye.”
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because some things are better left in the moment.”
He peered at me like I was the only thing he saw. “Stay with me tonight.”
“Why?”
“I like having you here.”
I opened my mouth to reply, but I realized there was no real answer. I liked being there as much as he liked having me.
“We could have some dinner,” he suggested. “And then watch a movie.”
“Watch a movie? Flynn Campbell watches a movie?”
“I can be an average guy.”
“Doubtful.”
He grinned. “Or we could catch the burlesque show downstairs. We can sit in my booth.”
“And show all of my old co-workers that we’re officially together? Alia will never let me live it down.”
“You made some good friends, didn’t you?”
“I did.”
I briefly thought of Chelsea. Though I’d been undercover to find out who had been selling drugs in Flynn’s club, I’d believed Chelsea had been my friend. She’d disappeared and then came back to warn me away from Flynn. Only friends did that.
Should I have listened to her and stayed away from him? It would’ve made my life easier. I looked at the man next to me and felt my heart begin to race. I couldn’t have stayed away even if I’d tried.
Flynn’s phone rang at six the next morning. I groaned, even as Flynn reached to answer it. We’d had a late whisky-filled night, laughing and watching movies. But Flynn was boss, and he was on call all the time. What I wouldn’t give for a few more hours of sleep.
