He recovers from the blow quickly, white hot anger warming his face, and I know I'm in deep shit.
He licks the blood that's running from his nose and over his lips, his own mixed with mine, and purrs. "Delicious."
Disgust curls my lips. His hand shoots out, fisting my hair in his grip. He drags me towards the broken glass on the floor.
Small shards imbed themselves in my toes through the thin material of my flats, barely providing any protection. I hiss in pain before he drops my hair and grabs my arms, gripping them so tightly that I know I'll have bruises tomorrow.
"You wanted to make a mess of your room like a toddler having a tantrum so now you'll deal with the consequences of it."
He picks me up and I realize too late what he's about to do. I kick out at him, trying to land a hit on his dick, but it's of no use. He slams my feet into the shards littering the floor and I can't hold in the scream that rips from my throat with the agony.
"I told you, Oslana, youwillyield to me. Or I will spend every waking moment"—he uses his strength to push my feet further into the glass—"breaking you," he breathes into my ear.
My vision swarms, the pain a shock to my system, my brain wanting to shut down, to pass, to protect me from feeling this. I hold on to my mate's images and focus on their unconditional love.
I gasp through the waves of pain. "You ... willneverbreak me. I have ... too much ... to live for."
His finger comes to rest under my chin, directly on my scar, tilting my head up to face his. "I've already gotten rid of the man you call Ash. With the help of a little dark magic, he was easy to dispose of. It's only a matter of time until I dispose of the rest of them."
I rip my chin from his grasp. "No! No, you're lying. All you do is lie!” Tears well in my eyes despite my words. “I don't believe you. Ash would never give up on me. He would never give up on our family!"
His lips tilt up in a sneer. "Funny how you put so much faith in a mere human. You really thought he had a fighting chance?"
I narrow my eyes at him, still blurry from the unshed tears, and sneer back. "I think you underestimate the will of someone fighting for someone they love."
He isn't gone. He can't be. I refuse to believe that.
I search his eyes for a sign of the man I’m fighting for. “I love you, Ash. I’m here, and I’m going to get you back.”
A growl comes from Anshar before he yanks my arm and tosses me towards the bed. I fall into the side of it, my breath knocked out of me at the impact on the wood frame. My feet scream in pain as I try to push myself up.
Before I have a chance to suck in a breath, he’s there, shoving me onto the top of the bed. My hair blinds me for a moment as I bounce on the mattress, strands getting stuck in my mouth.
The sound of metal chains clang in the air and I whip my head towards them, watching him pull the bindings out from under the bed.
Of course, this room doubles as a personal torture chamber.
Yanking my wrists to myself, I place them under my body where he can't reach them.
Think, Lana. You can't afford to be locked up.
A deep, tired sigh comes from Anshar, though I know it’s an air he’s putting on. "Resisting is futile, Oslana. Though if you want to turn me on, by all means, keep struggling."
If I try to roll off the other side of the bed, I'll just trap myself in the back of the room and it's not like I could run with my feet the way they are.
The bed dips and I look to see him coming stalking towards me in the middle of the bed. Panic begins to set in.
I'm out of options.
Despair hits and I cry out for Gaia.Give me something!
A kernel of power ignites in my core and I don't think twice. Ripping my hand from under me, I slam it against his face, letting loose the hint of power in one burst, the silver light pouring from my skin, searing his face.
He roars and falls onto his side, holding his face in his hands.
I'm sorry, Ash. I will get that healed. I refuse to let that be a reminder for you for the rest of our lives.
Rolling from the bed, I prepare myself to run with my mangled feet.Woman up, Lana.
