What the fuck? Fuck, fuck, fuck!

“I will leave another dose of my blood with you. Continue to forge the binding cuffs en masse for when we make our move to the other realms. We must be prepared to imprison the queens so that I can absorb their energy.”

The dark silhouette moves towards the entryway.“My siblings have become so content and lazy in their immortality. It will be like crushing flies beneath my feet once I’ve taken all of their power.”

For once, Anshar does the smart thing and stays quiet.Shocking.

“Do not disappoint me, Anshar. I already have your replacement marked.”

With that statement, the shadows fade out of the door, the body evaporating with them.

Anshar seethes. “Great. I have to go babysit a fucking idiot witch who couldn’t do the one task asked of her, instead of being with my beloved who’s chained to my bed.”

My soul sighs in contentment at the thought of her having more time without him but I worry about Anshar going to where I saw my brothers last.

Gaia, be with them. They don’t know the extent of what is going on. They need protection.

Chapter Twenty-One

Luke

As I stir sugar into my black coffee, heavy footsteps sound down the stairs, making me curious to see who woke up on the wrong side of the bed and is now stomping down the steps like a herd of elephants.

Technically, there is no good side of the bed with Lana gone.

Oddly enough, I was the first person up this morning. I could barely sleep last night with the excitement. We’re going back to our realm today. We’ll be that much closer to getting our Sugar Britches back.

Oh, how thy heart bleeds for her.I smile at the memory of our dramatics and then immediately frown. Will Lana be able to bring my brother back?

Hale walks into the kitchen, grouching as predicted, and I take in his disheveled look. He pops two slices of bread into the toaster, clad in a pair of faded black jeans with a white tee on, his hair sticking out in all directions. He has an intense five o'clock shadow coming in.

As he holds the lever down to lock the bread in, it pops back up and he growls at it, slamming the lever back down with much more force than necessary.

Lifting my coffee to my mouth, I blow lightly on the hot liquid and raise a brow at Hale's mood. Taking a sip, and groaning in pleasure at the first drop hitting my taste buds, I close my eyes in pure bliss. When I open them, Hale is glaring at me. I look to the toaster and lament, "What did we do to deserve this?"

Deciding I'm not going to let his negative mood bring me down, I move to the island, taking a seat as the other two bound down the stairs. They seem to have more pep in their step than Hale so that has me breathing a sigh of relief.

Hale's toast pops up, startling him into dropping the plate he just grabbed from the cabinet. A deep, growling sound comes from him, causing Leo and Zedd to stop in their tracks and glance over at me for an answer. I shrug and sip my coffee but raise my pinky and widen my eyes.

That's none of my business.

My twin, ever the eloquent one, dares to approach the growling man and claps him on the back. "Go rub one out, dude. It always calms me down."

"Please do not discuss such things in front of me, children," Serenity scolds from behind me, causing me to chuckle.

I'm quick to chirp back without turning around. "Deal, as long as you and your men keep the talks of foot massages leading to happy endings private."

She chuckles softly, moving on. "Are you guys ready to head back home? Well, to your real home in the fae realm."

Zedd perks up like an excited puppy. "Are we leaving now?

I swear if he had a tail, it would be wagging.

My twin makes his way to sit next to me, looking much more relaxed and back to his normal self again as he fists bumps the air. "Let's do this thing! I'm ready to get our little vixen back."

How the hell did he go back to normal overnight?

Don't question it, Luke. Just be thankful for the miracles.
