Wait, no.What the fuck was going on with me?No, they absolutely could not eat me in any way, shape, or form.

“Enough, Oz,” a deep, demanding, voice snapped. My throat was released in seconds, and I felt the trance completely fade.

Stumbling back, I rubbed at my throat as I gulped down air, needing to clear the light-headed state I found myself in.

My legs hit the edge of the couch, and I fell back onto it, sitting instantly. My new position and lower vantage point made them appear that much bigger than me. Without the haze of lust obstructing my brain, true fear settled in. My chest heaved as I shakily stammered, “M-M-Monsters.”

With the distance between us now, I could clearly take in their entire forms. Broad shoulders, wide chests, and tapered waists that lead to a usually delectable v on their lower abdomens all would have enticed me if they weren’t, you know…monsters. But curiosity spiked as I continued my appraisal further south, and I swallowed down a hard lump in my throat.

They weren’t making any moves toward me, seemingly allowing me a moment to breathe and take them in completely.

What I saw was like a seamless melding of skin into a hard substance from just below their hips all the way down to the tips of their feet and through their tails. Jagged black stone was the easiest way to describe it.

Like an armor of sorts.

The backs of their calves had spikes protruding outward that matched the tips of their tails. They were clearly capable of extreme damage in minimal time, and I was stuck like a fucking mouse in their trap.

As my heart rate spiked, I glanced out of the corner of my eye at the one whose words and touch had flooded me with heat, despite the fear I should have felt in his hold. The bastard was grinning like he could hear me calling myself a mouse in their trap. His snake-like tongue flicked out to lick his top lip.

I couldn’t risk being caught in his trance again, so I forced myself to look at the forehead of the monster in the middle, avoiding focusing on their eyes for longer than a second, in case my suspicions were correct.

He stood just an inch or two taller than the two on either side of him, and he took a few hesitant steps forward, reaching a black, claw-tipped hand out to me like he was trying to placate a rabid animal. It was almost laughable how he was acting like I was the unhinged one here.

Me, the normal fucking human.

“I’m Rezzath,” he practically cooed as he dropped to kneel in front of me. My breath caught as his clawed hand turned into regular, human-like fingers. I was too stunned from the transformation to do anything as the tips of them caressed the soft skin of my knee in a soothing manner.

His head tipped sideways, and his pulsating, sapphire eyes trailed over my body like he was summing me up. “Do you have a name, love?”

I swear they had some sort of control over my emotions because his tone was as calming as the lapping of waves outside a beach home as I woke up in the morning. My fear and lust were gone, replaced now with a calm curiosity.

Looking up at him from under my lashes—because, despite kneeling, he still looked down at me where I sat—I offered softly, “Tinsley.”

His shiny, obsidian lips parted, flashing pearly white human teeth at me instead of the sharp ones Oz had. That brought my own timid smile to the surface in response. “I know this is a lot to take in, as it seems you have no clue what you’ve called into your home. My brothers and I will do our best to explain, if you’ll allow us?”

I swear my head was already nodding in acceptance of his question before I could even mentally process his words. It was like my body innately trusted him, but that had to be his magic. I would never feel that way without it—would I? His fingers continued to stroke my skin but trailed from my knee down to my calf as his two brothers approached and also kneeled. They stopped just behind him, not crowding my space too much.

Rezzath gestured with his head to the third and final monster, and I shifted my gaze to the emerald eyes that simmered with a hidden darkness in their centers. “This is Delgalath.”

Damnit.I was a goner within seconds.

My throat immediately felt like it was closing with fear, and I moved to scramble away from Delgalath’s intimidating presence, but Rezzath’s hand gripped my ankle, holding me in place. A jolt of soothing waves flowed through me, and I looked back to Rezzath as my hammering heart slowed.

“We are not here to harm you, Tinsley,” he swore, and I felt the conviction of truth in his words.

A dark laugh bubbled out of Delgalath, pulling my attention to him as his eyes narrowed threateningly. He snapped his teeth, startling me. “At least not until you ask us to, but my brother Oz will guarantee you enjoy it.”

He ended with a wink, and I couldn’t help but volley my gaze to Oz when Delgalath mentioned him and the pleasure he swore I’d get. My cheeks heated as my imagination went wild thinking about the three of them pleasuring me.

Holy hell in a handbasket.I was so out of my depth, and I felt like all I wanted was to crawl beneath the safety of my comforter and close my eyes until I woke up from this nightmare. This couldn’t be real.

Three unknown monsters in my home, all of them holding some kind of emotional control over me so that my thoughts and physical reactions to them were no longer my own.

How was I supposed to break out of this when I couldn’t even trust myself anymore?

“As much as I enjoy feeding off of your fear,” Delgalath stated as he pushed himself to his towering seven-foot stature and backed up a few feet, “the sooner we get to your question, the sooner we can leave you in peace. So, please try to relax long enough for Rez to explain.”

I noticed he avoided looking into my eyes when he spoke, and a part of me wondered if he did that on purpose to avoid pulling me into his fearful trance? Like he didn’t want to scare me.
