Yesterday he had released my ankles from their chains, telling me I was being such a good pet. I soaked it up, loving how proud he was of me, day after day. The day prior to that, he had allowed me to stop hanging from the ceiling. At first my shoulders had screamed in protest at the change of movement, but he had held my head to his chest, murmuring words while pressing his thumb to my mouth. Quickly, the pain was numbed and I was in heaven.

As I pulled apart the bread I was given, I ate it slowly, feeling like it was poison to my body. All I wanted was his blood, not this disgusting food. But they hurt me when I didn’t eat it, so I stopped fighting it, and forced it down.

Closing my eyes, I chewed on the small piece and swallowed hard. He would be coming soon, my master. I knew it. Every other piece of bread, he would visit me right after.

Kira! Snap out of this!

Growling in response to the voice who had been so mean to me the past couple days, I tried to ignore them. I couldn’t figure out why I kept hearing the voice and why I couldn’t shut it out. It was agonizing, like a bug flying around in your head incessantly that drove you crazy.

It was a female, I could tell from the tone, but I knew it wasn’t me. I would never say such cruel things about my master and I definitely would never think of hurting him like she rambled on about.

I swear to the Goddess, Kira, I would wring your neck with my own hands right now if I could. You will not fall prey to his power. You are the damn Oracle. You have divine connections and powers. You are so strong. Fight this.

No, I am the master’s property. Where do you get these crazy ideas from?

I get them from real fucking life. Not this bullshit nightmare you are stuck within.

You are a liar. You are trying to tempt me from my loyalty to him and I will not be fooled.

The lock on my door clicked open and my eyes flew open, a smile on my face, ready to greet my master. Glancing down at the half-eaten bread in my hand, I panicked, knowing he wouldn’t be happy. That stupid voice had distracted me.

Shoving it in my mouth as the door swung open, I furiously chewed on it, and swallowed it just as his eyes fell on me. My stomach heaved, acid churning deeply in my core, rebelling against the food. Swallowing the bile that rose within it, I forced my smile back to my face.

All that mattered was he was here to visit me.

He’s here to ensure you stay a slave to him. He doesn’t care about you.

The sole of his shoes echoed through my room as he approached me, a key in his hand and a look of curiosity on his face. “Have you been good, pet?”

Nodding, I showed him my empty hands. “Yes! I’m eating all of my food.”

Reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear, he brought his other up to hold the key in front of my face. “Today we will test how good you really are.”

My heart leapt in my chest at this opportunity. I would make him proud.

Lowering the key, he quickly unlocked the metal cuffs from my wrists and let them fall behind me, clattering against the stone wall. Neither of us moved, but I could tell he had trepidation towards me and how I would react.

How was I supposed to react? I didn’t want to upset him.

Rubbing my sore wrists, I gingerly asked, “What now?”

For a while, he didn’t answer, letting me shuffle uncomfortably under his gaze as I worried I said the wrong thing. Finally, he relented and ran his hand over the top of my head soothingly. “You’re doing it already. Being compliant and waiting for me to tell you what to do. Perfection.”

A grin tugged at the corners of my lips as he pulled his knife out and began the typical process I had grown accustomed to. I opened my mouth greedily, waiting for his blood to coat my tongue. I didn’t have to wait long before he gave me exactly that.

Fireworks exploded in my mind and I greedily sucked every last drop from his finger, but all too soon he was pulling away from me and clicking his tongue at me. “What do you say?”

“Thank you, Master.”

Reaching out, he gripped my chin lightly. “You’re welcome, pet. Be good for a few days and I will show you the castle, okay?”

Widening my eyes, I jumped up and down excitedly as he removed his hand. Clapping my hands together, I beamed, “Oh, I would love that! To see where you command, Master. To be by your side instead of being left in here.”

He turned, giving me his back as he walked away, calling over his shoulder, “You know what to do. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

As soon as the door shut, the voice returned, feeling louder than ever.

Kira! The chains are gone. They were the only thing holding your power back before. I know you can come out of the haze of his blood’s control without it. He knows it too, which is why he is testing you for a few days. Think about it!
