“Earl Konig, this is Christiano D’Angelo,” Cappola says smugly.

“D’Angelo, Cappola has been voicing his accolades about you. It’s a pleasure to welcome you into the Cappola Crime Family,” Konig says, extending his hand.

Of fuckingcourse, I shake his hand, nodding.

“It’s my pleasure,” I say, solemnly looking into his hard steel-gray eyes.

This man persona is fucking absolute power; it exudes from him, but he’s not arrogant, and of fuckingcourse, the fucking darkness shrouds the man; it’s deeply rooted in his soul. This man is no joke, and I fucking pray never to cross him.

Konig is it!

Yeah, Konig, the King of the Elites, the number one in the food chain.

“This is Lord Milan,” Cappola says, taking a drink of his brandy.

“D’Angelo, it’s a pleasure to meet my new Capo,” Lord Milan says, extending his hand.

“A pleasure,” I say, shaking his hand.

“It’s getting late; I have the Soldatos waiting in the backyard. Gentlemen, this way,” Cappola says, taking a drink of his brandy.

We follow Cappola out of his office into the absolutely stunning backyard. We stopped at the blazing fire pit located in the center of the yard. The Cappola’s Soldatos and Capos are standing around the fire pit holding a glass of wine, attired in their Tux. They lift their glasses, nod, and take a drink of their wine.

The waiters are weaving around the yard with wine.

I see the Boss’s youngest son, Sergio Cappola, standing at the edge of the yard. He’s still working with Soldato, but he's allowed to attend the ceremony since he’s the Boss’s son. Unfortunately, Nicola is not allowed to participate since he’s not a Soldato yet. It will take a while for him to prove his worth.

The Elite Earl and Lord Milan flank the Boss. I look around the yard and at the men standing before me. I never dreamed that I would have the opportunity of meeting these legendary figures.

The strong emotions are assaulting me; it’s overwhelming, staggering, my chest feels tight. I inhale deeply and exhale to control my heart rate.

This induction is a fucking formal ceremony, I had my Soldato Omerta induction ceremony, but this ceremony is bigger, much more important.

The Boss taps his pinky ring on the glass, looking around the yard. Then, finally, the Soldatos and Capos stop talking.

“Thank you all for attending this important day. Today is Christiano D’Angelo Capo Omerta Blood oath! He’s taking Bruno’s place,” Boss Cappola says, looking at his Capos and Soldatos.

The Soldatos and Capos clap and whistle.

“D’Angelo, welcome to the Cappola’s Crime Family; the Famiglia Cosa Nostra is here to witness this sacred ceremony as you take possession of the Capo.

As the Capo, it is imperative more than ever to live and enforce the Omerta code, this oath of silence. The silence to maintain all Cappola’s business from the authorities or outsiders, and non-cooperation with any person or entity.

D’Angelo, you’ve demonstrated your loyalty, completed every task with professionalism and efficiency, an extraordinary assassin,” Cappola says, looking around the yard.

Cappola slides his hand into his suit jacket pocket, pulling out the Saint Michael prayer card that’s used for these ceremonies and a needle to prick my finger.

He walks over to me, takes my extended hand, pricks my finger with the needle, squeezing the blood to get a few drops onto the card.

“Christiano D’Angelo, I baptize you as Capo. Do you promise to honor and to pledge your fidelity to the Cappola Crime Famiglia,” Boss Cappola asks, staring at me?

I start my pledge, and Cappola walks over to the Capos that form a line up to the fire pit where I’m standing with Konig and Milan. Cappola takes his engraved gold lighter, lights up Saint Michael’s card handing it to the Capo at the end of the line. Then, he gives the card to the next Capo until it gets to Milan and Konig.

This all happens as I say my pledge.

“I solemnly swear never to betray the Boss, the Cappola Crime Famiglia, the organization, or any Mafiosi. May I burn in hell for eternity if I betray the Famiglia? I will honor the Code of Silence, the Omerta oath, keep the secrecy, and never acknowledge the Mafia’s existence. I will be loyal, kill, and die for the Cappola Crime Famiglia at all costs. I will always put the Cappola Crime Famiglia first and, above everything, God and my own family. I pledge my fidelity and will honor the Boss Salvatore Cappola, the Elite’s, and Lord Milan until my death,” I say, taking the burning card from Konig, rubbing my hands as I take the Omerta Oath.

“Congratulations, D’Angelo. The Omerta Oath is fundamental; as you know, it’s the code of silence. Your pledge to the Elites is valued,” Konig says, shaking my hand, giving me a side hug slapping my back.
