“Fuck you! She’s my life, my light, my everything,” I say, shoving him back.
“Right, it’s not what it looks like to me,” Jacob says, shaking his head.

One year later.
“Did I tell you, Antonella, that you look exceptionally bella?”
“Uh, yeah. Oh my god, you always do,” Antonella says, giggling, leaning into my side.
I look up at the dark clouds moving over us, then I take her hand in mine, lacing our fingers as we walk out of the restaurant.
“Baby, let’s hurry up because it looks like it’s going to start to rain,” I say, looking around the parking lot, checking that it’s all clear.
It’s a habit that I have to look for any dangerous threats. I don’t want anyone to hurt my girl to get at me. But Antonella is Mio Baby Girl, and she owns my soul.
“Ohhh. . . . it is a little chilly,” Antonella says, trembling.
We take long strides, quickly walking across the parking lot to get to my truck.
Sometimes I think I should have never started this relationship, no matter how strong and real it is. Yeah, I should have listened to Jacob, my best friend and Antonella’s brother.
We’ve been friends since we were in elementary. Jacob is always on my fucking case to stop seeing Antonella.
But that can’t happen.
How the fuck does he think that I can stop seeing my girl?
She’s my light!
How can I let her go when it will kill me, kill my soul?
I know that my job is dark; who I am is a lethal, dangerous assassin. So, it’s dangerous having Antonella near my darkness.
But Antonella is a weakness that I shouldn’t have because there will always be some fucker, an enemy that will love to try to get at me by hurting her.
Fucking hell, that shit is never happening!
I look down at Antonella; the moon rays hit her huge honey brown eyes, making them glow as she smiles at me. Her long dark brown hair sways around her shoulders as she wraps her arms around my arm, laughing. She’s always so fucking happy, always laughing.
Antonella is so fucking beautiful, sweet, and smart. I’m so proud of her, especially since she followed her dreams. She’s been working at the hospital as a medical assistant. I remember the inner glow, the huge smile as she walked across the stage to receive her Associate's degree. My heart swells with pride; I know that she’s happy.
“I have a meeting that I need to attend in an hour, but I’ll be back to take you to the movies or whatever you would like to do,” I say, stopping next to my truck.
“Oh, okay,” Antonella says, nodding, tilting her head looking at me.
It looks like she has something to say, but she doesn’t say it. I wonder what it is because she never holds back when she has something to say.
I unlock the truck door, pull it open, taking her hand, helping her into the passenger seat. I walk quickly around to the driver's side, pulling the door open, sliding onto the truck driver’s seat, turning the key, and the truck roars.
Antonella leans over to turn the stereo on, bopping in the seat. She’s so damn cheerful, singing along with the song on the stereo, turning to look at me.
Yeah, a Christmas song since it’ll be Christmas soon.
