He glances at me, seeking permission, and I nod, my heart swelling at how easily he fits with them.

“Go ahead, young man,” I smile. “Get changed, have fun.”

Billie practically skips off with Luke and Richie, their chatter filling the penthouse as they head to a bedroom, already swapping stories about stuffies.

I watch, delighted, knowing he’s found his people, boys who get his Little side.

It’s what my darling boy needs right now, a moment of joy before the storm hits.

I turn to Cole and Connor, jerking my head toward the balcony.

“Let’s talk,” I say, my voice low and serious.

They follow me out, the city’s hum rising as we step onto the wide glass platform, the skyline glittering under the evening sky.

The air’s cool but muggy, a sharp contrast to the forest’s fresh chill, and I lean against the railing, my eyes scanning the streets below.

Somewhere out there, Trent and his Varkov generals are gearing up for their meeting with a high-level cartel, a deal that could solidify their power—or end it, if we play this right.

“We need to hit them before they reach the cartel meet,” I say, my voice low, my mind already mapping the op. “Trent and the Varkovs will be vulnerable in transit—fewer men, less cover. We intercept them enroute, take them out clean. No loose ends.”

My tone’s all Guard, but inside, I’m thinking of Billie, of keeping him safe from Trent’s betrayals—both past and future.

Cole nods, his eyes sharp.

“Agreed,” Cole says. “Intel says they’re moving through a warehouse district, low security, predictable route. We can ambush them there, hit hard and fast.”

Connor grunts in approval, his fingers tapping the rifle still slung across his chest.

“Mr. G’s orders are clear,” Connor adds, his voice steady. “No survivors. This ends tomorrow night. And, just for absolute confirmation… Trent and the Varkovs were planning on using the insurance from Billie’s death to expand their drug empire. That’s where the cartel meet comes in.”

“Evil, right?” Cole mutters, shaking his head in disgust. “But that’s why we do what we do. To keep the world safe.”

I nod, the weight of it settling in.

This is it—the final play to take down Trent and the Varkovs, to end the threat to Billie for good.

But Cole’s got that look, the one that says he’s about to dig deeper.

“So, Max,” Cole says, a smirk playing on his lips. “What’s the deal with you and Billie? You’re not just babysitting anymore, are you?”

Connor raises an eyebrow, his silence as probing as Cole’s words.

I shift, my jaw tightening, trying to keep my face neutral.

But Billie’s laughter from inside, his voice mixing with Luke and Richie’s, hits me like a wave, and I know I can’t hide it.

“He’s my Little,” I say, my voice quieter than I mean. “More than that. He’s…everything. But I’ll fill you in when this is over. Right now, we focus on the mission.”

Cole chuckles, clapping my shoulder.

“Knew it. You’re gone for the boy, man,” Cole laughs. “But fair enough—mission first.”

Connor just nods, a knowing look in his eyes, and I’m grateful they don’t push.

My Guard men just get it—we have each other’s backs, no questions asked.

The three of us turn back to the railing, looking out over the city, the lights reflecting the stakes we’re facing.
