“Who you here with?”

I stared at him curiously. “My best friend.”

Ahmad was dressed simply in a black shirt and dark jeans. He woretwo single gold chains around his neck. Even with him dressing simple, he captured my eye.

As he stared at me, I started feeling weird, so I avoided his gaze. Something about the way he looked at me had my stomach feeling jittery.

Ahmad grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him. “Don’t put your head down. That makes it seem like you lack confidence. You’re too beautiful for that.” My cheeks grew warm. The butterflies in my stomach intensified. He ran his thumb over the bottom of my chin. His touch was gentle, offsetting the rough skin from his thumb.

A small puddle started to form between my legs. I shifted my body to try and distract myself. Stepping back from Ahmad, his hand fell from my face. As if he could sense my lust over him, his eyes lowered, and he pulled on the corner of his bottom lip sensually.

We stood there in a stare off until Isabella’s voice broke my eye contact with him. “Chica, I thought you fell in the toilet,” she said as she walked up on us.

Standing next to me, she looked from Ahmad to me with curious eyes. Neither of us addressed her at first. It was like both of us were stuck staring at each other.

“Well, I’ll let you two ladies get back to your night.” He bobbed his head in Isabella’s direction then gave me a grin.

Once again, I got caught up in his eyes.

“Uh uh, you been holding back. Who was that?” Isabella asked me as soon as Ahmad was out of earshot.

We started walking down the hallway that led to the main floor. “No one. Just someone that comes to the coffee shop.”

The bar had filled up with more people than before I went to the bathroom.

“Mhm, he’s fine as hell.”

“That he is, friend.” My pussy throbbed once again at the thought of Ahmad. The way his pink tongue slowly graced his lips had me wondering how it would feel against my flesh, slowly tasting every inch of my body. A sudden shiver shot through me. I quickly shook the thoughtoff.

I looked around the bar and my eyes fell on him. He was staring directly at me. I noticed he was with a couple other guys.

He smirked at me and raised the glass in his hand. I snatched my eyes away from him and bashfully lowered my head.

“Come on,” I told Isabella, grabbing her arm.

She stared in the direction I just broke my eyes from. “Did he do something to you?”

I started towards the door.

Yeah, if you count causing me to lose my train of thought every time he looked at me, then he did a whole lot to me. “No, I’m just tired.”

My phone went back off in my pocket. I pulled it out and looked at it.

Kevin had sent me question marks. Seeing Ahmad made me forget that he even texted me. Right now, being around Kevin wouldn’t bring my body any joy. Sex with Kevin was always good, but it wasn’t him I was craving right now. Right now, my body was calling for a beautiful stranger.

I texted Kevin back telling him not tonight.

“I’ll call you tomorrow.” I hugged Isabella.

She nodded. “Okay.”

Our cars were parked next to each other.

I walked to my driver’s side and got in.

I looked back at the bar one last time. Thoughts of Ahmad filled my head which caused my stomach to feel warm. I wasn’t sure why. I had never felt an instant attraction to a man like I did with Ahmad. The moment he stepped into the coffee shop, I could barely form a sentence. Since then, I have looked forward to him coming in each morning.

I shook my head. I wasn’t even trying to go there. One thing about me was that I knew me and relationships didn’t work. No one was really who they said they were, and in the end, they would just leave you with a broken heart. Instead of setting myself up for failure, I chose to keep it safe and deal with men I knew I couldn’t get emotionally attached to. It was easier that way.
