“Leave,” Felix snapped, cutting her off.

Her eyes narrowed before she silently departed, closing the door behind her with a bit of extra force.Oh, baby, I’m just getting started.

Felix settled back into his swivel chair, and I followed suit. Refusing to give him time to think, I pushed between his thighs and leant back against his desk.

“Do you remember how wild we used to get?” I asked, looking down at him, all seductive and sultry. “We could hardly go a few hours without attacking each other. Those were the days, weren’t they, honey?”

He cleared his throat, pulling on his collar.Fucking choke, you asshole.

Grasping onto that thought, I decided to rub that malice in a bit deeper.

“What was your favourite position again, honey? Like this?”

I gave him my back, placed my hands precisely where Heather’s had been, then bent over at the exact same angle, with my back arched. When I was in the position I had caught them in, I glanced over my shoulder to find my husband’s stare directly in line with my ass. He was trembling, but for some reason, I didn’t think it was from desire.

I winked. “Don’t you love it like this,Boss?”

Felix glitched and jolted upright. “Wha—what did you call me?”

I giggled while I straightened, turned and fixed his tie. “Sorry for being sounprofessional, honey. I was just teasing. I’m a little stressed. That’s all.”

He grazed my cheek with his knuckles. “Anything I can help with? I know you’ve been busy with the boys, so I don’t want you overwhelmed at work. I can take care of things here.”I’m sure you can, you cheating scumbag—

“I’m okay.” I pouted, testing to see if I was pushing too hard or if I should power through and make the first move. “My return has been somewhat of a rush, you see, so I haven’t had the chance to source an assistant.”

“There are a few in the company who have great experience. I’ll be able to pull one immediately if you need. Do you want me to send you some recommendations—”

He was interrupted midsentence when Heather barged in, clipboard in hand, looking as important as a toddler stomping her foot.

Felix’s cheeks flushed red with anger, and his tone wasn’t much better. “What is it?”

She rattled off his entire schedule for the day, yarning on about such minor details that I was surprised she didn’t book in his morning bowel motion.

I ended up cutting her off with a sharp clap. “Husband,” I said in exaggeration. “Where did you find this gem? She’s so passionate about her job.”

Felix coughed as Heather cocked her hip—until I laid down my request.

“Honey, I’ve just found my new assistant!”

He couldn’t do anything except stutter on his words, which I took advantage of.

“What’s happening?” Heather asked.

“You’re my new assistant, Hilary!” I announced, beaming my white-toothed grin. “Since you’ve beenunderthe CEO ofthe company, you must be the most qualified, right?” Taking advantage of her stunned state, I pressed forward, invading her space until I hovered right before her. “I’ll settle for no one else to workright alongside me.”

That was when my husband decided to reboot back to life. “Stella, I don’t think—”

“Come on, Felix,” I whined. “She just read out your every move of the day, so it’s not like you’re going to get lost.Andyou just finished telling me there are many capable assistants in the company you can have on hand immediately. Pull one of them.I want this one... Or are you saying you can’t possibly live without Hilary here?”

“No, of course that’s not—”

“Great, the deal is done then. Hmm. Nothing like a good negotiation to begin the day.”

After giving my speechless husband an air kiss, I swept out of his office, clicking my fingers in Heather’s face as I passed. “Come on, Hilary. We’ve got work to do.”

With a reluctant agreement from Felix, she had no choice but to toddle behind, feet dragging like she was being led to hell. Which wasn’t that far-fetched.
