Celina studied Sergi for a long moment then asked, “Who are you?”
Sergi gave her a half smile and replied, “My name is Sergi Constantine.”
Celina paled and trembled as she stared at him.“Bratva?”she whispered.
Sergi nodded.“Da, but how did you know that?”
“Everyone in New York City knows who you are.But why are you here?I mean here in Minnesota?”
Sergi smirked.“I wish to say I was on vacation but net.Unfortunately, I’m not.I came here several days ago to clean up a mess your cousin thought he could get away with creating.I stayed because someone tampered with my plane and now I’m here to help these men take down your brothers.”
Celina just stared at him then she asked, “Do you mean that for real?Take down my brothers, I mean?”
Sergi cocked his head at her.“You want me to take them down?”
“Yes please,” Celina whispered, her voice barely registering.
Hondo scoffed.“Those are your brothers chica, why would you want them taken down?”
Celina turned her head to look at him now.“Because they are just no good.Who do you think gave me all these lovely bruises? And do you know why they did what they did? They beat on me because I dared to talk back to them.I told them this mission could lead them straight to the same fate that took Jonah.I told them they better straighten up their lives or they wouldn’t be here long enough to make a difference. That’s when Caleb stood up and hit me.Then Jordan began kicking me when I was on the floor. Then Caleb ground his foot on my left hand and Jordan kicked me in the shoulder hard enough that I thought he popped my shoulder out of place.I laid there on the floor almost all night then when I knew they were sound asleep, I escaped that damn house and drove here.”She laid back on the sofa as tears rolled down her face and disappeared into the cushion under her head.“I left but as soon as they woke up, I’m sure they were right behind me.”
“And how do you know your brothers are working for Montoya directly?”Hondo asked her with clenched fists.
Celina peered up at him and said, “Montoya came to our house and spoke to them directly. My brothers didn’t know I was home from work yet but I heard every word they said.Montoya is still looking for Isobel and her daughters. He figures he can use them to make her come out of hiding. He vowed to make her pay for his brother's death.”
“What does he plan to do with her daughters?”Hondo demanded to know.
Celina stared at him and slowly shook her head.“He’s going to kill them right in front of her then shoot her in the head.He said only when she’s dead will he be able to breathe again. He has been crazy for weeks now.He rants and raves about this Isobel woman and any family she has.He wants blood revenge. He even took a vow and cut his hand leaving his blood on his brother’s gravestone. He says he will get to her kids if he has to.”
“The hell he will.”Hondo growled.“That, I will never allow.”
Zed, Donald and Cameron all glared at her as they nodded their heads in agreement with their father.
Celina looked at him then closed her eyes and melted into the cushions. Then finally, she turned her back to the group of men.But she could still feel their hostile gazes burning into her back. She sobbed silently as they spoke in hushed voices.
Suddenly, a pair of strong hands gently turned her around. She struggled but he kept his hands on her shoulders.“Don’t, just don’t.I’m not going to hurt you,” he whispered softly.
Celina closed her eyes and stopped moving.“Why?”
“Why what?”Walter asked.
“Why wouldn’t you hurt me?Especially after what I told you?”
Walter shook his head.“None of us would hurt you, girl.First of all, you aren’t your brothers or your cousin. And secondly, I think you came here to warn us what your brothers were planning to do.”
She shrugged.“So what?I told you my brothers are right behind me.You and yours might think I’m in league with them and got here first just to throw you off your game.”
“And did you?”Walter cocked his head to one side.“Come here to throw us off?”He shrugged.“Like that makes any sense.”
“God no.”She shuddered.“I’m hoping that you stop them once and for all.My brothers and my cousin think there is no one brave enough to even try to stop them. They think Montoya will save their worthless hides but even I’m not stupid enough to believe that.Montoya is after blood and he doesn’t care who dies to find whoever he’s after. As far as I know, only one person deserves to die and that’s Isobel.Sergi said she was torn apart by wolves and maybe this is wrong to think but I’m glad she was finally stopped. From what I know about her, she got exactly what she deserved.Especially if she did what she did under Alfredo Montoya. He was another one that got what he deserved in the end.”
Walter nodded.“Si, that is true. But my father was right when he said Ernesto would never get his hands on Isobel’s daughters. One of them is my niece and the other is a good friend that has saved many lives, ours included. They have not only our protection but that of an entire MC.”
Celina nodded.“That’s good then. All the way here I prayed they would have someone watching their backs. But you all have to be aware of Ernesto Montoya. He's a snake wearing man’s skin.He doesn’t care about anyone but himself and that’s dangerous to anyone who goes up against him.I hope none of you get hurt.”
Walter stared at her and shook his head.“We have been up against a few of his kind,” Walter told her.“The man makes a living from the suffering of others, right? He then wastes his money on wealth status, buying things he doesn’t even need while the poor around him live in poverty. In the end, it all rots his soul, until he is ready to go to hell. And believe me, we have sent more than a few like him there. We don’t lose or give up on anything we start. If Montoya finds his way here, we’ll handle things.”Walter gently raised her left hand and studied it for a moment. He saw the torn skin and dark bruises. He looked up at her and said, “You may have some broken bones. We should get this hand x-rayed.”
Celina shook her head.“I can’t right now.No hospitals. They would find me and I don’t want them to.I’m finally free from them and I want to stay that way.”
