“I’m ready for it, Handsome.”

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Damien

Today was the best day I’ve ever had. Amelia, officially becoming mine and her news of our impending bundle of joy in the coming months has me on cloud nine. It’s hard to top this morning, but I think this evening will be the perfect ending. I knew she’d be dead on her feet after today, and she damn sure wasn’t coming home to cook. I worked with her, side by side. I could barely keep up with her.

I’m not exactly sure how she managed to stay awake on the way home. I saw her eyes droop down a couple of times and then she’d snap them open.

We get home and I help her down from the Jeep, she’s leaning into my side heavily. Her surprise isn’t just for her, it’s for me too. I unlock the door and allow her to go in first, she gasps when she see’s dinner is already served on the back patio. Candles are lit and the sun is setting leaving the beach in a warm glow.

“Oh my gosh Damien. This is amazing!” She makes her way outside and stops and stares.

“Gorgeous, don’t you know, I’d do anything for you?”

“Still, I’m so thankful,” she rushes out, coming back toward me and grabbing my hand to pull me close to the table.

I bring out her chair for her to sit in and then sit in my own. We sit down to a meal of ribeye steaks, twice baked potatoes, and a spinach salad. As soon as I found out she was pregnant this morning I changed our meal from a seafood dish to something with more protein and nutrition in it.

“Baby let’s eat, I know you’re exhausted,” I state. I no sooner have the words out than she is cutting her steak and taking her first bite. She moans loudly, and just like the sounds she makes with her coffee, it makes me jealous.

“I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. Taste this steak,” she says as she brings her fork to my mouth, I don’t have the heart to tell her I have the same exact thing on my plate as her. If she wants to enjoy her meal with me, then fuck I’ll be doing the same thing back.

“Damn, that is good,” I say while bringing a bite of salad up to her mouth and she takes a forkful and enjoys it. When both plates are empty, we take them back to the kitchen, dumping them in the sink. Both of us too tired to even care about cleaning up.

“Join me in the shower?” she asks as I follow her into the bedroom.

“I’d follow you anywhere, Gorgeous,” I tell her as I strip out of my clothes when we’re in the bathroom.

We spend the rest of our Valentine’s Day like it was meant to always be, together in each other’s arms.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Amelia

9 months later

We welcomed our daughter into the world three weeks ago. It’s been a whirlwind of fun these past few months. We immediately got married outside on the beach. When the beach is your backyard, it’s hard not to want a wedding right here. I wore a white gown, it was a timeless piece with its long flowy skirt and tight bodice. I had my hair in a low chignon to the side, with a small veil. Damien wore his Armani suit, the one I loved so much. He ditched the tie and left his collar open and his pants rolled at the ankle. Sure, it’s probably a huge faux pau to do to such an amazing suit, but ask us if we care. His mom was there along with Justin and Gabriella and their children. It was everything to us.

Damien surprised me shortly after the wedding and printed our photo, it was right after the ceremony. We’re not looking at the camera, we’re merely looking into each other’s eyes and the photographer captured our love, perfectly. He proudly hung it over our bed stating that he wanted to always remember the day I became his and he became mine.

When Ava unlatches from my breast, I burp her before situating her on the other side. We named her after my mother, her middle name being Marie, the same as mine. She’s the perfect blend of Damien and me.

I’m leaning back on the couch as Damien walks in from work. His hours have been cut down considerably and I have to say I love every minute when he’s home with us. As for myself, I brought Sam on full time and she’s working out perfectly. A part of me can’t wait to get back to Birdie’s, but the other part of me is loving spending every waking moment with our daughter.

“Hey Gorgeous, how are my girls today?” Damien asks as he walks over to us. I bring my lips up to his and he gives me a searing kiss. I’m counting down the weeks until we can be together again. Our passion for each other hasn’t faded and even during these time’s when I’m out of commission, I make sure he’s well taken care of.
