“Yeah, you did. But I like your eyes on me,” he says with mischief in his tone.

He comes back between my legs and I feel him press a warm washcloth between my legs and it feels heavenly.

“Thank you,” I sigh out.

“Anything for you Aubs, anything,” Cade grunts out as he gets back off the bed and puts the now dirty washcloth in the laundry basket. He comes back to bed and slides in beside me. We’re both naked, and the warmth radiating off of his body lulls me to a light sleep, but not before I whisper into the night, “I wouldn’t change one drunken night, if it meant waking up and having you in my life.”

“Best night of my life,” I hear Cade reply and then I drift off to sleep.

Chapter 21

Cade

Waking up with Aubrey in my arms, it’s the best feeling in the world. I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t tempted to wake her up with my body between her legs, but looking at the alarm clock and the fact that I know she’s going to be sore, stops me.

I hate leaving her alone in bed. If I could take today off and laze around with her, I fucking would.

Unfortunately, today is the day we meet with the landowners to see if we won the project and it would look horrible if both owners didn’t show up.

After I get out of bed, I stand on the side watching Aubrey. She snuggles into my pillow and that brings a smile to my face. I can’t wait till the weekend when I can have her around me all day and all night.

It doesn’t take me long to get ready and then I head downstairs, knowing that she doesn’t have to wake up until I’m almost out the door. I give her as much sleep as possible.

I feed Axe, then make a pot of coffee for my travel thermos and get Aubrey’s tea going. After talking to her as much as possible, I feel like I’ve known her a lot longer than a few days.

When you know, you just know.

I head back up to the master bedroom and slowly peel back the sheets, seeing her naked and in my bed.

I want her in my bed, always. I want her to make a stamp on this house and turn it into a home, and I damn sure want her ripe with my child.

“No,” she grumbles as she tries to grab the blankets to put back on her body. Placing a knee on the bed, I sink in beside her and bring my lips to hers and kiss her awake.

“Good morning,” I whisper huskily into her ear. The desire in my voice isn’t something I can hide from her.

“Morning,” she grumbles, but she gets as close to me as possible.

“I have a few more minutes, but then I’ve got to head out. You waking up for the day?” I question.

“Uh, yeah. I guess I better. I bet Dr. Smith would yell the clinic down if I was late. Then the whole town would really be gossiping,” she grouses.

I climb off the bed, taking her with me, as we stand by the bed. She’s naked to my clothed body. Every part of me wants to say fuck work and get back in bed.

“Hi,” she says with sleep still in her eyes, but a smile on her face.

“Hey,” I reply. She giggles and I let her go.

“I’ll be right down, don’t leave yet. Please?” she asks.

“I won’t leave without telling you, promise,” I tell her. She heads to the bathroom and I head back downstairs, knowing if I stay neither one of us would get to work today.

Chapter 22

Aubrey

I’m so glad today is finally Friday. The clinic has been slammed this week with an injury or an accident of some kind every day. It breaks my heart to see animals in pain, it’s probably why I’m looking forward to the weekend off.

Cade and I talked as much as we could, but we were both falling asleep on the phone at times. It sucked sleeping alone, even if all we got was one night. I missed the spiciness of his smell, the warmth of his body, and being cradled all night long.

When Cade asked me to spend the weekend with him, I said yes without hesitation. Here I am now, back at my apartment packing my weekender bag. More like over packing, that’s just who I am and now that the weather is turning colder and colder each day. I swear I’m having to wear even more layers.

I’m just finishing up packing my toiletry bag as the last item, when I hear a knock at the door.

“Just a minute!” I yell out. I grab my bag and head for the door. After I take care of whoever’s here, I’m heading to Cade’s. I got off work a few hours early, so I figured I’d head over and take Axe out and hang around his place.
